Democrats face an uphill battle to recapture control of the House in November's midterm elections, while Republicans have marginally improved their position in what remains a tense and wide-open fight for control of the Senate, according to party strategists, independent analysts and current polls.

September has seen Republican prospects brighten, particularly in New Jersey, where ethics problems have called into question what once seemed solid reelection prospects for Sen. Robert G. Torricelli, the most vulnerable Democrat in the nation. Republicans also have increased their chances of retaining the Senate seat in New Hampshire. BBDN,

You are 100 percent correct! That was precisely what was on my mind and why I am both holding my breath and sitting on the edge of my seat. Especially after the 2000 blowout predicted for GW Bush, a squeaker that like to kill me.

However, the vision of Daschle back in minority status and Jeffords getting his just reward has me dreaming and working towards that end.

To even have the POSSIBILITY in the midterm election of taking back the Senate is beyond any of our collective wildest dreams. None of us expected GW to have this kind of commanding political savvy. I am in awe, even while occasionally disagreeing with his individual decisions, it appears his strategic focus is better than anyone would have credited him with before now.

Your advice to reserve celebration until Nov 6th is well received and good advice.

Rick
