Poll Ping!

Not much good news out of Pennsylvania this morning. The above poll shows Rendell with a 15-point lead (though that is only registered voters). There is also another poll out this morning from KDKA showing Rendell with a 58-35 lead:

If you want on or off my poll ping list, let me know!

Mike Fisher is perhaps one of the worst statewide candidates the Republicans have ever run in this state. And he looks so much worse because he's running against Rendell, who, for all is faults, is one of the best campaigners I've ever seen. He certainly learned his lessons from losing 2 statewide races a long time ago.

When Republican Gov. Mark Schweiker is matched against Rendell, Schweiker leads by 47-29 percent. That's because of Schweiker's national celebrity for his deft handling of the accident at Quecreek Mine.

If NJ Dems can substitute Lautenberg for Torricelli, can PA Pubbies substitute Schweiker for Fisher?

So? What does that mean? Bill Klinton was one of the best orators in recent history, but did THAT make him a good President? If & when Rendell wins the election....say good bye to your guns. Only HE is allowed to protect himself. He will find you, and the rest of the fine people of PA unworthy.

That means that he will win the election, because most people do not pay attention to issues. Sad but true.

I absolutely agree. Quite sad. However, when you & I vote, even if our chosen candidate doesn't win...at least it affords us the right to bitch. I hear so many people complain about one issue or another & when I ask them.."well, did you vote?". Almost always the answer is no.

As long as the state house and senate remains in Republican control Rendell's gun-grabbing, tax and spend
policies will be minimized. I have seen no polls to indicate
legislative control will change.

That's kind of like hoping cancer will just go away. He'll make appointments, etc. that espouse his views. The results of which may not be immediately seen, but it'll be forth coming. Besides, I think we all remember how he ran Gore's campaign...he's crooked, and a bad liar, too.

Even if they could make a substitution, Schweiker doesn't want to run.

The statewide poll of registered voters shows Rendell, 58, the former Philadelphia mayor, holding a 45 to 30 percent lead over Fisher, 57, the state attorney general from Upper St. Clair, with a little more than a month remaining before the election.

If you have unregistered spouses, children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, etc. who will vote Republican, get voter registration forms at the post office and have them fill it out. Put a stamp on it and mail it in. Oct. 7 is the last day.

"...Schweiker doesn't want to run."

No - he wants to make big bucks, running the Philly Chamber or something like that. At least for a couple of years anyway - then maybe run for Senate if Specter does not run in 2004.

The polling data about Rendell v. Fisher is bad - but it there are 5 weeks left and Fisher can bounce back. Something that has not happened yet is that most prolifers and pro-gun people need to get ACTIVE AND SUPPORT FISHER with everything they got. Lit-drops, phone banks, and GETOUTTHEVOTE is gonna be very important - so VOLUNTEER TO HELP FISHER!!!!!

I have gone each saturday for the past 3 weeks on lit drops, and have personally dropped over 2,000 pieces of lit.

Fisher is CONSERVATIVE.
Fisher is prolife.
Fisher is pro-gun.
Fisher is for lower taxes.
Fisher is a good person.

Rendell is ultra-liberal.
Rendell is anti 2nd amendment.
Rendell is rabid pro-abortion.
Rendell is pro gay-marriage/domestic partnership.
Rendell is Pennsylvania's Bill Clinton:

Gore's DNC Pick Got Crude and Lewd with Female Reporter

During his debate with former New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley last Wednesday, Vice President Al Gore felt compelled to apologize for his boss's behavior with Monica Lewinsky.

"I understand the disappointment and anger that you feel toward President Clinton, and I felt it myself," Gore said when asked how he could change America's cynical attitude about modern politicians.

But if Gore was as angry as he says over Clinton's Lewinsky affair, media insiders are starting to wonder why he picked Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell to head up the Democratic National Committee -- given Rendell's own reputation for womanizing.

In April 1994, Rendell was profiled in Philadelphia magazine by reporter Lisa DePaulo, who spent an afternoon traveling with him to New York to meet Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

By DePaulo's account, Rendell started the trip by explaining to her that he and Bill Clinton had much in common. Then he attempted to prove his point.

"I probably shouldn't say this, because it might not be taken right," DePaulo quoted Rendell as saying, "but Clinton and I are very much alike."

The mayor pointed out that Clinton and he are both "gregarious and fun," both have big hearts, like junk food, love politics and are married to successful women. Then Rendell added with a laugh, "You can draw some other conclusions."

Based on what? Perhaps on Rendell's raunchy behavior toward the reporter, culminating in his attempt to bed her.

According to DePaulo, when something she was wearing set off the metal detector at New York's City Hall, Rendell squawked as guards looked on, "Take it off, Lis! Take everything off."

Later on, Rendell attempted to debunk rumors of his own Clintonesque recklessness:

"When all this b---s--t popped up during my campaigns about me using my power position to abuse women," Rendell told DePaulo, "that's not true. I've never done anything to hurt women -- or men."

"There's got to be a statute of limitations on this stuff," Rendell added, ostensibly referring to the then-new charges by Arkansas state troopers that Bill Clinton used them to help stock his harem.

After making excuses for both Clinton and himself, Rendell decided the moment was right to explore his prospects for a less professional relationship with the reporter.

Rendell said he'd heard "something very interesting about me," DePaulo reported. Then the mayor proceeded to describe, "in raw and alliterative terms, how he presumes I am in bed. All of which he says I 'should find flattering.'"

DePaulo was offended enough to blow the whistle on Rendell's thinly veiled proposition, which she recounted as follows:

"It was cute, for example, at the train station -- after I noticed he'd forgotten his bag in the car -- when he gave me a little hug and said, 'Lis, you're a lifesaver. I owe you one.'"

"It was still pretty cute a few minutes later on the train platform: 'Anything your heart desires. No task is too menial, too trivial or too abject.' Later in the train, it's a little less cute as he's going through his itinerary: 'They didn't schedule any time for me to do whatever you ask me to. Remember, I owe you one.'"

"Even the following morning, he's still on this rant: He hopes to squeeze in a workout at the Plaza Hotel, he tells me. 'Or,' he adds, 'you can get your favor then.'"

With Ed Rendell at the helm of the DNC, it looks like Al Gore may be in for some more anger and disappointment.

I registered my daughter last night because she moved this year.

Re: Rendell's raunchy behavior toward the reporter, culminating in his attempt to bed her.

That would be a good letter-to-the-editor about Rendell's reputation as a womanizer. Some people don't know about it, and they might vote against him if they knew.

Fisher is running a horrible campaign, and Rendell like it or not is running an effective one. I like Fisher, and have voted for him in the past. But unless some huge scandal engulfs Rendell, Fisher will not win... and it won't be because of Dems, but because of an absolutely abysmally run campaign.

Are you going to the Fisher-Rendell & Toomey O'Brien debates at the State Theater in Easton on Oct. 20 at 7 pm? I'm thinking that the Democrat union people will be there in full force.
