Why I am no longer a Democrat (Janeane Garafalo's "up yours" to the Dems)

WHY I AM NO LONGER A DEMOCRAT

Over the past few years I have realized that, while the rule of law means a lot to me, it means very little to the Democratic Party. Three years ago, I was so disgusted with how they had protected Clinton that I left the Party. Then, late in 2000, I was so horrifed with their attempts to use the courts to change inconvenient state election laws that I decided to do whatever I could to keep them out of power. And to me, that meant doing the unthinkable-- I became a Republican. So in a way, it's nice to see the New Jersey Democrats confirm that, while my decision might have been hasty and rash, it wasn't wrong. This time control of the Senate is at stake and the "Party of the People" is yet again attempting to use a state supreme court loaded with Democrats to shamelessly keep themselves in power.

What kills me is that being a Democrat means never having to pay for a mistake. The New Jersey Democratic Party knew all about the allegations against Torricelli when they nominated him. On the last legal day to change the ballot, they gambled that they had a better chance with Torricelli than with anyone else. Now they suspect they were wrong and want the Court to rule that the Law is not what the legislature votes on and the governor signs. Apparently the Law is whatever suits the Democrats the best at any given moment. But this time, I doubt the US Supreme Court will stop it. Only the good people of New Jersey will be able to do that. They now seem to know a crook when they see one, so maybe there's hope.

So I've got my grain of salt handy.

You & me both. Like I said, I could be wrong. But I don't think anyone's feelings would be hurt if I was right...

Is this J. Garofalo the "comedy" actress?

I think the question is missing some verbs or something, but the answer... she's still a Demo. Another RINO, perfect, woo hoo. Kill all the babies you want, destroy the culture from the root up — just give me my drugs and stay out of my wallet. Woo hoo.

I don't believe this is Ms. Garafalo... I've seen her stand-up on the O'Reilly Factor. She's no republican.

If I recall, she was on O'Reilly a while back, and I was completely impressed with her comments. She sounded pretty peeved at the Dems and had taken a Republican turn. I just wish we could find out for sure if this Shiloh chick is her.

Whoever it is, the post is great.

What is the tie between "shilohbucher" and Janeane Garofalo?

She has been a devout leftist. Why would it be assumed that this is her?

I don't believe for a second that she is Janeane Garofalo.

Me, either. Check out the interview from April 5, 2002 posted at www.thevitalvoice.com/2002_0405/Garofalo.html.

It completely contradicts the part of the post where it says, "Then, late in 2000, I was so horrifed with their attempts to use the courts to change inconvenient state election laws that I decided to do whatever I could to keep them out of power. And to me, that meant doing the unthinkable-- I became a Republican."

Did I miss something? I don't think I see that she is a Republican. She's probably an independent or a Green?

It's NOT Janeane Garafalo, that was just a blogger's joke. Garafalo appeared this year at Central Michigan, full of leftwing feminism. Hardly Pubbie material, maybe Greens, Socialist Workers, International Workers of the World, but Pubbies?

I'm keeping my healthy bit of skepticism about this, but one can always hope. I'll keep my ears open over the next few days. If it's true, I'm sure more stuff'll show up elsewhere (least of which being the "mainstream" media), 'cause if it is, the "Hollywood establishment" is going bat-sh*t right about now...

And if'n it's not true, at the rate this story is spreading, she'll be forced to 'fess up one way or the other on the record by the early part of next week or so.

Hmmm,

I think the sum total of evidence that Shiloh = Janeane
is this :

1. a Picture on her website that looks vaguely like Janeane Garafolo

2. She makes a comment on her blog about her "Janeane Garafolo ass"... even in context, I don't know what she meant (probably goofing on people who've said she looks like JG).

3. After someone put 1 and 2 together and then "outs her" as JG... Shiloh goes, OK you got me.

I don't think she was being serious.

"The authorship of this is important. But it doesn't detract from the fact that the words themselves are powerful and true and beautifully written. Whoever wrote this is damn talented and should be writing their own play."

Umm. I don't know how Janeane Garafalo's name got attached to this, but a few minutes of research reveals that Shiloh Bucher is a grad student of Public Affairs in Austin.

From a very recent Rolling Stone:

It seems like Bush sees the presidency as a steppingstone to some job he really wants, like commissioner of baseball.

I feel that all he has ever wanted was to own a sports team and live the life of a privileged guy. And then somehow, through some kind of miscommunication, I guess, he wound up getting the Republican nomination. I bet he was as bummed as anyone that John McCain didn't get it. And then he was probably praying that Al Gore would win the whole recount. He was like, "Please, God, please God," and probably got a big anxiety boil on his face. Now that he's president, I think Bush looks as depressed and upset as anyone would in that situation. It's too much stress.

Have any of you made the comparison between the governor of Fla and the Governor of NJ during the two shameless DNC attempts to subvert the laws of their states.

Jeb Bush kept completely in the background, not taking any sides, while McGreevy, shameless led the conspiracy in NJ.

Even though Jeb's brother was involved, I feel he would have taken the same approach no matter who it was. OTH in NJ here is a gov who led the attack on his own state laws. This is a fellow who the state of NJ should work very hard to put out him out of office. He is an embarrasment to the state.
