The fact that Lousyberg stepped into the campaign so quickly and easily tells me that the 'Rats must have had this in mind as a contingency plan all along. I think their first option was to try to keep Torricelli viable and hope that his many scandals, like Clinton's would be buried by the media down the memory hole and just die a quiet death. When that didn't pan out, they moved to Plan B without a skip. They knew they had the NJSC in their back pockets, and are willing to give the USSC a roll of the dice because what've they got to lose at this point? And they can tar the 'Pubs as litigious whiners in the process.
I'm telling you, that 'Rats are unprincipled and scurrilous scumbags in so many ways, but, you have to admit they are very efficient, in a diabolical sort of way, in their planning and Machiavellian playing of the system.
