Am I allowed to make a comment???

No. According to CFR, it's too close to the election.

A "Waco-level" threat? Is that the threat of the FBI Hostage Roasting Team coming in with tanks to gas everyone, especially the children who don't have gas masks, then shoot them or burn them to death, to save the children?

of course New Times is a very left-ish free paper only read by teenagers who don't know any better. They are attacking mormons IMHO. Napolitano is a democrat running for governor currently against republican Salmon who is mormon.

We have to be careful not to blindly believe government information about religion. I'm not saying it couldn't be true, but I'm saying remember the motives many have. Religion is not allowed in a socialist society, and therefore must be demonized as much as possible.
They said the exact same thing about Waco, remember?
Ruby Ridge was suppose to be an armed fort with dangerous weapons, but it was just a couple who wanted to be left alone.
Be careful with these types of reports. Who knows who's "adding" to the accusations there.

You forgot to talk about the Meth Lab. You'll never get the National Guard to supply you with the helicopters and Bradleys until you claim they got a meth lab on premises.

While we're at it, let's take a good look at that other evil death cult we have in this country, Islam. I hear they treat their women pretty crappy too, and not only do they rape them, they kill the women afterwards for provoking it.

One of the TV news magazines did a story on this in the last few years. It is neither a new story nor a surprising one.

These people (the ultra-fundamentalist Mormons) have for years defended a lifestyle of child abuse, female subjugation, and political corruption with a mask of religion.

I believe it was Sandra Brown who wrote a novel loosely based around this cult. Much of her material came from the actual situation this article discusses.

I am very concerned that by referencing Waco people are going to assign these people some sort of moral high ground. Koresh was a child molester not a saint. While the FBI/ATF may have mishandled that situation (the raid) we cannot use that experience as a reason to allow people who would abuse and trade in children to go unpunished. Because they may have weapons is no reason not to serve arrest warrants. If the people of FLDS resist peaceful arrests with deadly violence then they will have decided for themselves their own fate.

I lived in AZ for 20 years, and was there when the New Times started. I read it for the ads, but it has NEVER had any credibility (which is why it's free) and while I certainly don't want Nepolitano as gov., there is nothing the NT says that anyone should take seriously.

"To protect against open records we should actively maintain our investigation file on Colorado City and maintain an official position of vigilance," the memo states. "Beyond this, it is recommended that we proceed very cautiously. The press downside is minimal and containable."

While I have no comment on the article, I have long suspected that such tactics are prevelant nationwide especially at the Federal level.

No, you're not allowed to call a cult a cult. It's intolerant. All religions are equal, you know. So, as long as it's done in the name of religion, sexual abuse, rape, incest, and beatings are OK.

Come on, fellow Freepers, I'm as suspicious of government as anyone, but this has to be investigated and these women and children helped if this is true! Just because Janet Reno roasted one weird group, doesn't mean that government can turn a blind eye to possible abuse.
