The big news of the day was the speech given this evening by the President regarding Iraq. Bush spent the majority of the day preparing for the speech, which was broadcast to the nation from Cincinnati, Ohio. The Bush Administration also announced today that it would step in to help resolve the longshoreman strike on the West Coast in hopes of freeing up billions of dollars worth of goods that are being held off shore. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush received the Elie Wiesel Foundation For Humanity Humanitarian Award for her work in education. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

QUOTE OF THE DAY: I hope this will not require military action, but it may. And military conflict could be difficult. An Iraqi regime faced with its own demise may attempt cruel and desperate measures. If Saddam Hussein orders such measures, his generals would be well advised to refuse those orders. If they do not refuse, they must understand that all war criminals will be pursued and punished. If we have to act, we will take every precaution that is possible. We will plan carefully; we will act with the full power of the United States military; we will act with allies at our side, and we will prevail.

Bush's speech was fantastic tonight. Quiet strength, and the message was perfectly clear.

Great speech tonight. Cool, calm, deliberative, serious. His soft-spoken delivery was quite effective. My favorite quote: "That is not the America I know. That is not the America I serve. We refuse to live in fear."
God bless this President.

Great first picture. The President spoke in measured quiet tones tonight to our nation and the world. The danger is great and our resolve is greater. May God bless this President and those who advise him during these trying days. May all of our fighting men and women be under special protection. God Bless America!

What a great picture of Dubya coming down the stairs from Air Force One!! I haven't seen the speech yet. We had supper late, and Sir SuziQ reminded me about it just as we sat down. I ran downstairs to start it taping, but haven't been back down to watch it.

I said this elsewhere, will repeat it here - look at his eyes.
He has the same expression as he did in the photos from 9/ll - he knows much more than he's saying. He recognizes the enormity of the situation much more than he can convey at this point.
May the Lord grant him wisdom and peace.

President Bush did a great job tonight and CBS,NBC,ABC and all those who decided to ignore this address to the nation..... I will never stop reminding you that when the President made his case you didn't listen. Therefore you can never complain he hasn't made the case ... BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T THERE
