Looks like SCOTUS did something I've never seen before: it let someone file an anonymous cert. petition with an anonymous lawyer. Such solicitude for the privacy rights of crooks . . .

The 9th Circuit overturned Karlton in December 2001, ruling that there was "no adequate justification" for withholding the documents.

But the letters were not released because an unnamed "private citizen" appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court to keep the names from being revealed.
