[history]
A French friend once told me, describing the French character, "France could never have a Hitler. You see, if a leader here tried to implement some crazy policies and force people to follow his will, we would all hit the streets and tell him where to go." Of course, the French sometimes do that when the proposal is as benign as restructuring schools.

Just another example of the morons we have to put up with here in the Land of Ten Million Liberals. The really good news, this sh**-for-brains is a teacher.

The boulevards of Paris are lined with trees so that invading German armies can march in the shade.

Don't let silent majority drive U.S. policy No, better we let it be driven by the strident minority.

Hey SFB (shiola for brains) I don't suppose it occured to you that while the VAST MAJORITY of people wanted to give you the bird, they were just too polite to stoop to your level. Instead they just keep eyes front and center and try to maintain the blood pressure. Because the truth of the matter is, you ought to be extremely grateful these people aren't paying attention to you.
One of these times you are going to do something foolish, like force them to recognize you by stepping in their way. I'll give you my prediction for the outcome. Said "silent majority" member will no longer be able to contain his vitriolic disgust at the putrid look on your face. He will stop, resign himself to the deed he is about to commit, and then commense to pounding the living snot out of you.
At least, that's what will happen if you fail to respect my right to look away...

It just wouldn't happen. Because France is so much better than America, which sided with the Nazis in WWII.

Better civics classes? Forced subscriptions to the Utne Reader? Mandatory foreign study in France? We can always write our media and ask them to cover international issues better. Whatever it is, we had better get a more informed and active citizenry, or the pols in Washington will continue to act like the playground bully abroad and all of us will take the blame. If we bomb Iraq, the drive-through Americans will have blood on their hands. And they won't even know it. The problem with liberals per say is that they somehow think that they're aware of current events, international affairs, history etc. and that somehow if the masses were better informed that they'd obviously see the evils of their ways and support their causes. The issue is that their worldview and knowledge of all things are tainted and filtered thru their own liberal biases and brainwashing. These views are then only further reinforced thru their own blindered mineset and reinforced by groupthink. They consider themselves to be open-minded, something a most objective observer would immediately recognize as delusion on their part. A bit of intellectual honesty might possibly clear some of this delusion away but of course given that they're true believers the prospects aren't good. I don't know what the cure for this pathology/dementia is. I think it's probably curable in some cases given the number of born-again conservatives there are and the seemingly sparse number of born-again liberals.

France had its Hitler in Herr Bonaparte. Stupid premise; ignorant 'teacher'.

There is something peculiarly disgusting, if not treasonous, in protesting your country's national security policies in another country. Political arguments and free voting are fine in America. But you don't s**t on your own country when you are abroad.
Not unless you are someone like bill clinton or Robert Saxton.

France is far superior in the categories that
really count: body odor, length between showers, snottiness, surrendering, hypocrisy, whining, deviant sex, Islam,
etc.< /sarcasm>
I find it strangely amusing that the author's idea of societal awareness is reading the Utne Reader. I wonder if he's read any real books in his life (he hasn't if he's only got an education degree).

I went to high school with this weinie. He was a weinie then and he is a weinie now.
These myopic educrats sit around in their teacher's lounges and complain about our government, all the while sucking at the hind teat.
I am sick of people like this. They elect people like Paul Flintstone and Walter Mondale. Oh, for retroactive sterilization!
To: Couer de Lion
If they knew some of the nasty stuff our government does, they would be ashamed, and would probably do something about it. This line is my personal favorite. I wonder what kind of "nasty stuff" he means. Maybe it's those risky low tax schemes for the wealthiest 1%.
To: Couer de Lion
For what it's worth, I think liberal idiocy (dementia, as you put it) is curable. I'm a recovering liberal myself. Unfortunately, it's rare. These people have a strong emotional attachment to their faith, and they value their self-image as the annointed ones.

What an idiot! And he claims to be a teacher? France did have a Hitler--it was Hitler himself who ruled France for almost six years (1939-1945). There was a local French traitor named Petain who was the figurehead, but it was the Nazis who really were in complete charge. The French also cooperated fully in sending French Jews to the gas ovens. Great people, those Frogs!

If they knew some of the nasty stuff our government does, they would be ashamed . . Personally, I'm ashamed that "our government" hires morons like this to brainwash the kiddies.
