Republicans wasted little time in TV ads criticizing Bowles over his previous ties to the White House. On the campaign trail, Bowles is careful to distance himself from his former boss, President Bill Clinton. But his campaign has placed an ad in The Carolinian, an African-American newspaper, touting his experience as Clinton's chief of staff.

so f-ing what? they'll still vote +90% for the democrat. even funnier, never has any group ever proved the validity of a skin color stereotype more than this thoughtful "group" of voters. it's very sad; for their sake.

speaking of owning somebody...

Those who show up at the polls will probably vote democrat. However, this ammount of disaffection indicates a low turnout, which is a good thing.

"The very fact that he would be seen with Clinton in the African-American community, or may indeed pull Bill Clinton out of his back pocket in the closing days of this election in the African-American community, but wouldn't dare be seen with him in the broader community -- that's pandering," said Cash Michaels, of The Carolinian.

He learned it (pandering) from the master...

Don't you just love the African-Americans who vote for those bastards, no matter how many times they crap on them? Will they ever wise up?

Polls show Dole has 6 percent support among minority voters

This is pathetic. What did Liddy Dole ever do to them?

I will never grasp this knee-jerk hostility among blacks to Republicans in the South. But it does make me relish winning anyway all the more!

Nothing. They're brainwashed by Democratic lies, smear-jobs and fear campaigns against all Republicans..The Dems exploit ignorance to the max.

Odd article. It theorizes that black turnout may be depressed because of Bowles distancing himself from Clinton, and due to the fact that Jesse Helms (a lightening rod for black turnout) won't be on the ballot. But the article misses the biggest reason why black turnout may be off: Dan Blue. Blue, who is black (haha), finished second in the Dem primary, and took his time (as I recall, a month or so), before endorsing Bowles, and then with a notable lack of enthusiasm.

Anyway, Bowles doesn't come across as one who would attract a devoted black following: an "Eastern establishment" sort; an investment banker; member of several prestiguous country clubs until he decided to run (whereupon he withdrew from most of them); and married into big money. Bowles has tried to cultivate the "good ole boys" by working stock car racing and bowling into his ads and PR stunts (efforts which have been widely hooted at); I can hardly wait till he heads down to the hood and tries to pass himself off as a "bro."

My guess is that the Bowles camp doesn't think that they can play the race card against Dole. She doesn't make a good lightning rod in this respect.

On the other hand, they may just be taking the black vote for granted, and this guy is just upset that Bowles isn't blatantly pandering.

She hasn't put them down and created a cycle of dependence on the government tit. Also, she does not race bait and practice class warfare. The democrats have so they vote democrat. The democrats have done so much damage to blacks. I know several black conservatives who are taunted by their friends called uncle tom sell outs. Very sad.

Wow! So simple. So to the heart of the issue. I'm using it for now on.

IMHO Liddy Dole fits the description of the Plantation mistress complete with her southern charm and gentleness. Whereas, Bowels looks like the smart assed son who just came in from from the fields after whippin on some slow moving slaves. This scene is straight out of central casting.

The'll be at the polling places punching straight Dem by the church bus loads even if their bodies aren't there. I saw something on UNCPTV talking about the large number using the new and improved absentee voter option. That sort of set off a siren for me. Give NC another 7 years and you'll see.:-(
