STUTTGART, Germany (Reuters) - German police said on Friday that there had been a hostage-taking at a school in Stuttgart in southwestern Germany.
The police gave no further details.
A local radio station quoted an eye-witness as saying the hostage-taker was a student armed with a weapon and said the area around the school had been cleared.

Gunman Takes Hostages in Germany
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) A gunman took several hostages Friday at a school in southeastern Germany, police said.
The man was believed to be holding both teachers and students in the school in Waiblingen, near Stuttgart, police said.
They said he took the hostages at around 3 p.m.
