Despite showing a ten percentage point deficit in a recent poll, former President Bill Clinton says fellow Democrat Jimmie Lou Fisher can beat Republican Governor Mike Huckabee in the November 5 election.
Clinton appeared Sunday at fund-raisers for Fisher and Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Ron Sheffield. He said Democrats are energized, but will have to continue working hard to take back the governor's office.
Clinton says Fisher still has to make herself known to Arkansas voters. Fisher is state treasurer, but usually ran without opposition so voters are less familiar with her.

Jimmie Lou Fisher? Ha! What a redneck name...just like Dukes of Hazard "Cooter" who's running for Congress in my neck of the woods. Seems the trash doesn't fall far from the trailer!

I certainly hope this is not true! Mike Huckabee is the greatest! And he reads FreeRepublic too.

With Fisher ten points behind, major crook Clinton know he can win because Clinton's crooks will be counting the vote.

As it happens, I had lunch today with 3 Arkansans (in Wisconsin.) They said that they thought that Huckabee would have "no problem" getting re-elected. (They were aghast when I asked how my favorite Arkansas Governor was doing! "Moved to NYC, and good riddence," they replied!)
However, they thought that Mike Huckabee's wife, Janet, would NOT be elected to the post she is running for because she is running against an entrenched and popular Democrat incumbent. Even so, they thought she would be an excellent official -- they just thought that it is inappropriate for husband and wife to both hold elected office at the same time.
