As Evelyn Waugh makes clear in his great trilogy of novels, "Sword of Honour," The Second World War was indelibly compromised by our alliance with Stalin. Defeating Hitler was a great accomplishment, but putting Stalin in his place and subjugating Eastern Europe and China to the tender mercies of the Communists was an evil accomplishment.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt bears a large part of the responsibility for the vile way that the Great Crusade for Freedom swerved at the end into a Communist cesspool. There's not much doubt that Roosevelt actually favored Communism as the inevitable wave of the future.
