Fox News just broke in with reports and confirmation of a single shot shooting on Connecticut Ave in Montgomery County. Live pictures are on now. No confirmation if it's related to the sniper as of yet.

Katherine Herridge (sp?) live at police station in MD. Grand Pre Rd and Conn. Ave - initial report a shot at bus stop, not sure if it was on the bus or at the bus stop. Shooting happened at 6am.

Fox just reported the shooting is in the Aspen Hill area, what a slap in the face to the police and fbi. Hit the same area twice. (if it's sniper related of course)

Can anyone explain to me why Ted Kaczynski wasn't prosecuted to the full extent of the law? Every time I read of another person killed by this shooter, I realize that if he's an enviro whack-job he'll probably avoid the death penalty too. What a revolting thought!

If I remember correctly, and I'm not sure that I do, it was a deal with his brother to turn him in.

I believe the brother who turned him in did so under the impression that the death penalty would not be sought. As I remember, at the time there was some discussion about it, and I think the prosecution used the dropping of the death penalty as a way to get him to plead guilty.

This might be intellectual fodder for another thread, but I have not seen it mentioned yet, so I will post it as there will be an undoubtedly lengthy lull in being provided with information of substance about this shooting. (If it has, my apologies). Does anyone find it highly unusual that after 9 or 10 shootings, all of a sudden, the assassin makes a monetary demand?

Unless someone can cite a source who actually knows for sure tht the demand was made and was, in fact, monetary in nature, I find it highly suspect. And the schools being closed... why? Abundance of caution in one specific area?

I believe you two are correct. When I think of Ted vs McVeigh it really frosts me. Kazcensky placed a bomb on an airliner. It did not explode, but rather made a lot of smoke. If that plane would have gone down, and the bomb was capable of taking it down had it gone off, he would have killed in the same range of people as McVeigh did. I'd have lied to the brother and prosecuted the vermin once in custody.

I didn't think we were being told the exact nature of the threat to the school. For one thing, the closures were kept very secret to my way of thinking. The media didn't mention it unless I missed it, at least not until this morning when the white van was seen near the school. Then it sortof came out in the process.

Did others hear of this closing before this morning?

This character may be getting a high over his superiority and power over other people. A demand for money would be further demonstration of his power.
