The FBI doesnt want the case. One reason they dont want it is both MD and VA have death penalties in place and currently the Federal death penalty is under some legal question. I don't believe whether the FBI takes the case determines which court the accused is tried in.

So other than you dont like who appointed him and his friends, what has he failed to do that J. Edgar Hoover or your ideal white hope would have done? Thanks for revealing where you're coming from. End of conversation.

Montgomery County Council was terrified of the NAACP allegations of police bias (very bad press), and they were equally terrified of 3 years of ongoing harassment from the U.S. DOJ (who found no evidence of racial bias in the department). Gee, I wonder WHO was running the DOJ then???

You are apparently not very bright if you are not able to discern the bald faced fact that Moose is a moron. ROTFLOL.

dickie, you need to lighten up on the caffeine, and give more thought and preparation to what you say. I do not think much of chief Moose, and have had some heated debates with friends, but the bottom line is that he is in an area where most of the crime is committed by blacks against blacks, and they (the democRATs) in the government there are doing what they have always done.
It is their usual methodology of masking the issues with controversy. This guy was probably NOT the most qualified, just the most qualified black in the selection process. And besides, they might not even have recruited any whites or other minorities, though both groups (and i am including white-male-anglo-saxons) into that minority group. Remember where these guys live... DC is right next door to him, and since there are gun laws in dc and md that cripple the sheeple, they need all the brothers in law enforcement that they can find! The drug problem and crime from dc spill into his lap every day!

Yes, in specific terms, I am not challenging Chief Moose's ability to do his job, nor his qualifications relative to other candidates at the time he was hired because I simply do not know.
In general terms, I am saying that while diversity is a commendable byproduct in the workplace, that it ought not be the primary factor in selcting any candidate because affirmative action is wrong.

Well, he may not appear to be a very effective spokesman in the national arena regarding the Beltway Sniper. And, he may not have been the most qualified candidate for the job when he was hired, I don't know -- I wasn't part of the selection process.
But, generally, since 1999 he has earned fairly high marks for improving "community policing," whatever that means. I don't have hard facts readily available, but I believe violent crime is down significantly in his jurisdiction.
Morale within his department is improved. Overall, I think he has earned fairly high marks for his performance.
In D.C., Chief Ramsey is credited with a generally successful performance, especially during all the WTO/World Bank demonstrations.
Now, the guy in Prince George's County, ol' "what's his name," I'm not hearing any success stories down there. He was hired recently from "within the department" to replace a caucasian who was confronted with numerous acts of police brutality he allegedly couldn't bring under control. Don't know what the real story was with him.

Three cheers Skip. I will say this for the Moose, I dont think too many people could stand up under the enormous pressures being brought to bear on him. If you watch the press conferences the suits in the background seem to be glad to have a sacrificual lamb.
Shocked!

Why does MOOSE remind me so much of the Scare crow in the Wizard of OZ?

Well, despite his diction -- Moose ain't stupid.
Remember, a lot of folks think Dubya is dumb as a bucket of hair. I've heard he's glad his opponents underestimate him.
I remember way back when, during the Watergate Hearings, because of his accent and down home ways, everybody thought ol' Sam Ervin was dumb as mud -- in fact he was one sly fox, a Harvard Law School grad with a remarkable record. Same things were said of Abe Lincoln -- don't let these country boys fool ya'.
