I just noticed the headline on my newsfeed ... eight people on board.
To: aomagrat
Apparently there has been a plane crash involving Wellstone's plane.
To: aomagrat
Yes, I was about to post this too. They have been frantically trying to reach the Senator for the last half hour to no avail. He was supposed to have been on this plane.
Gosh, so much going on these days.

My second thought...
To: finnman69
Carnahan II? Ventura is the governor, not a D...this time.
To: mafree
Good Heavens! I second what you said.

Wellstone is the ideological opposite of everything conservatives stand for, but I hope and pray for his physical safety and well-being.
To: finnman69
Carnahan II? Count on it. Sarcasm aside, though, whoever's plane it is I hope there are as many survivors as possible.

To: aomagrat
The plane was leased. You had this up before it hit the radio breaking in on Rush, good job.
To: dittomom
Sad,may they rest in peace.

According to Fox, AP is reporting that this plane was chartered to the Wellstone campaign.
To: aomagrat
Does anyone know Wellstone's schedule today?
Given that the news says "we don't know" if he's on board, that probably means he is. (It's a lot quicker and easier to prove/say that he's alive, whereas if he's missing or known dead you have to confirm more, and even wait for next-of-kin notification before you talk.)
To: aomagrat
Of course on a personal level it's tragic if he's dead. Politically speaking, would this be good or bad news for the GOP if he's dead? I could see him winning now like Carnahan in 2000 so that Gov. Jesse could appoint his successor. I'm thinking this is probably not good news.

Wow - I'm not sure if we both have sick minds, but I was wondering if he had a senator-to-be wife!

My thoughts too, but Wellstone wasn't expected to be in that much danger of losing. Nonetheless, if Wellstone dies, Coleman's campaign is dead.

I don't agree with his ideology, but I would never wish this on him. Prayers are going out now.

I pray that Wellstone and all of his aides survive, and live to see themselves defeated handily on Nov 5th...unless this is yet another of Tom "Caligula" Daschle's election schemes.
To: aomagrat
If there are gone, may they rest in peace. God bless the friends and families of the victims.

Not meaning to sound morbid (and hoping that CNN's "crashed" means "drove off the end of a taxiway"), but how does Minnesota law handle appointments to the US Senate? Does the legislature make the pick? Or would a replacement be named by Gov. Ventura?

CNN reporting Senator Wellstone's plane has crashed in Minnesota. Not known if he is on board. Maybe it was shot down by a right wing militia. We've got to ban handguns.
To: dubyaismypresident
Carnahan II? Ventura is the governor, not a D...this time.
Ventura could appoint himself to fill the rest of Wellstone's term.
To: aomagrat
Sorry, but somebody has to say it:
Any bets on how quickly the Democrats will have his wife take his place on the ballot?
