Good Mourning: The Democratic Party Has No Shame.....

October 30, 2002: That was some party the Democrats threw last night -- and quasi election rally too. Too bad it was originally intended to be a memorial service for, er, who was that guy now, Paul...Paul...What'sHisName. Oh well, no matter. He's dead now anyway. Just so long as Bill Clinton and scores of other national Democratic figures had fun, and had their insatiable egos suitably massaged by raucous, cheering "mourners."

Of course, the national media have their usual blinders on, in this morning's reports on this "tearful memorial." Not surprisingly, there's nary a mention of the sheer enthusiastic excess, bonhomie and good cheer demonstrated by Bill Clinton and company on this somber occasion. If they didn't know better, TV viewers would have guessed that last night's spectacle was a celebration of the Democratic Party's good luck in having one of its most embarrassing loudmouths killed in a plane crash -- even if his wife and daughter had to suffer a similar tragic fate.

In the meantime, all the usual media suspects are continuing their non-stop efforts to canonize the late Senator Wellstone, as a larger-than-life crusader for all that is good and decent -- in contrast of course to living advocates of selfishness, greed and exploitation of the poor such as Republicans Norm Coleman and George W. Bush.

Isn't it too bad that no-one made a fuss over Democratic Senator Paul Wellstone while he was alive, the way they are now that he's dead? The good senator might have appreciated all the exaggerated kudos being thrown his way while he was still with us.

Could it actually be that a covert agenda to boost the chances of the Democrats in the upcoming mid-term elections is motivating this bathos-fest? Naaaa, no way. The media isn't that biased, is it? After all Katie Couric and colleagues have always been stalwart exemplars of political impartiality in the past..............

What a shamless exercise in hollow hypocrisy. Tells you what the Democratic Party is really all about -- self-interest, selfishness and unadulterated power.

I could hardly believe my lying eyes when I looked at it for a brief time, I couldn't stand it for long. Thank God, poor Dick Cheney didn't have to suffer that. It was truly unbelievable.

I have two questions........ 1. Who actually orginized this event? 2. What does DFL stand for (I assume this is an acronym for the state Dem party)? BTW, I hope the disgust with this political rally resonates beyond Minnesota.

I hope some of the talk radio shows in Minnesota are covering what happened last night. Pat Gray on KPRC 950 AM (Houston) had me in stitches this morning while driving to work. It was without a doubt the funniest spoof he's ever done. To the tune of "Happy Times Are Hear Again", he was mocking Wellstone's son's rah, rah speech (We Will Win, We Will Win!) and singing "Dad is dead, but we will win"! I would imagine several stations across the country will be doing their share of spoofing today. Makes me wish I could hear Rush this afternoon.

Pat Gray said that he saw a political rally last night and a funeral tried to break out! Personally, I couldn't bear to watch it "gavel to shovel" on FOX News, but saw enough to get thoroughly disgusted. The dems have definitely hit rock bottom with this spectacle, and if there was any justice they'll lose bigtime at the polls.

What shameless scumbags. Of course, it is probably only a matter of time that the Republicans would follow suit, but I would not forsee their decay to this level until after 15-20 years or so.

Power Corrupts. Absolute Power Corrupts...Absolutely.

The mentality of this raw thirst for power to satisfy one's ego and psychological shortcomings, is apparant to the point of a former President working 24/7 in the closing days of his sex/cash scandal-tainted presidency, trying to wash the stain of shame away by striking a deal with North Korea (which he could never carry off much to his disappointment); but nevertheless his foolish, drunk-with-power actions now put at jeopardy the lives of THOUSANDS of American young men and women in US military uniform in the Republic of Korea, and thousands more American businesspeople, teachers, and other residents in Korea in the North's nuclear bullseye.

Is it any wonder they turn funerals into campaign rallies?

This was on most of radio stations here in Mpls this am...

The opinion expressed was that the media was 'sucker punched' and thought it not proper or correct to cut away once the rhetoric began...

I heard that Jesse V. just shook his head and walked out, along with Helms.

The BS piles up so fast with the Dems...

DFL: Democrat Farmer Labor.

Wellstone died in a fiery plane crash. I think that pretty much rules out the icon-under-glass treatment.

Last nights 'memorial' was just another opportunity for rabid Democrats to practice the only religion they have - politics.

Trent Lott walked out as well!

I am still stunned at what I witnessed last night! I knew the Clinton DemocRAT Party had no moral compass but this went beyond anything I would have imagined.

The Clinton DemocRATs must be defeated!

Neither does the Democrat party.

But don't underestimate them. They have all convinced the country media and even republicans to add the IC to the end of their name. They are all still Democrats from the Denocrat party. One of James Carvile and Bill Clintons tricks they got through during his 8 years in office. I cringe every time I hear it.

Say what you will about Ventura, but at least the man has some morals and decency on this issue.

How pitifully low and disgusting--the Minnesota and national Democrats. What sad, sad humans we have just witnessed.

I missed it, sounds like it was an eminently missable affair, and Mr. Cheney undoubtedly agrees. OTOH do you suppose that the presence of an actual adult might have dramatized the tackiness you describe? Well, if it was that blatant anyway . . .

Wellstone died in a fiery plane crash?

I thought that the wings (which hold all of the fuel in bladder tanks)were ripped off by the trees? What caused the fire in the cabin?

I've planned my day around Rush's radio show. It could be one of his best. I wouldn't miss it.
