I was totally FR free today because of a busy day of work. How did this play on the radio show circuit (i.e. Rush Limbaugh)?

I caught an audio clip from the rally on the news coming into work. It seemed totally out of line for a memorial service.

Here's just a taste of it:

“People took the occasion of Paul Wellstone’s death, hijacked his soul and told us what was in it for their own personal gain. They wrenched his soul right out of the grave, assumed it for themselves and then used it for their own blatant, selfish, political ambitions. It was despicable.”

"How did this play on the radio show circuit (i.e. Rush Limbaugh)?"

Rush began speaking after only a couple notes of his theme song. But he was very quiet, very somber. It was apparent he was deeply disturbed at what our country, or perhaps I should say the Democratic Party, has become. He spoke along the lines that "I thought I'd seen it all but..." When a caller asked what the problem with the "service" was, if this was what the family wanted, he said that her question was indicative of the problem itself, that we used to have common standards of decency, of "how to go on" in certain situations, and we have lost that. All in all, he was disturbed and almost at a loss for words to describe what happened, which is saying something when we're talking about Rush.

Rush was speechless. He basically said that he thought that he had seen it all, but that this "performance" was basically lower than low.

On the local afternoon radio show in Pittsburgh(KDKA, Fred Honsberger) the usual leftist callers were in full throttle. "Cynthia"(a greenie if there ever was one) stated that Wellstone was basically assasinated by Bush. "Carolyn" who repeats the New York Times editorials whenever she calls was defensive shouting to Fred that this was a "private" event.

In closing, most of the callers recognized the Wellstone "memorial" for what it was, a cheap grab at the symapthy vote and were repulsed.

Rush's tone was somber. Part way into the show he said "you can probably tell I am almost speechless over this".

He was not gleeful that the democrats had disgraced themselves. He sounded horrified at the spectacle he had witnessed. He played clips and took calls--the clips really speak for themselves.

How did this play on the radio show circuit

Not a good day for the RATs. I haven't heard one positive comment from anyone in the media.

Rush was disgusted. Said Wellstone would be rolling in his grave. I believe Rush spent the first hour and a half on this topic.

Even Paul Harvey's news cast had a negative piece on this memorial political rally.

If Jesse Ventura's reaction is reflective of MN's undecided voters, Mondale is toast.

It's been a great 24 hrs. Thank you Bill, Hill and Terry.

Rush did almost half his show on the travesty of Wellstone's "memorial" pep rally. He said it was one of his darkest days in radio. You should subscribe to Rush 24/7. Then you could listen anytime you want...commercial free. I'm really excited. I'm going to a dinner for the 80th birthday of KFBK, a local radio station where Rush got his start, in Sacramento on Nov. 8. He is going to be the keynote speaker. I'm jazzed. I met George Bush and now Rush. What a year!
