We here in NH learned a lot from Tuesday and are treating it as a defeat. We should have won by even bigger margins.

We did many things wrong. We're going to be a well-oiled machine in 2004. No poll will show a Democrat up in 2004.

We had our fill of seeing Shaheen in dead-heats with Sununu. We don't want to worry on Election Night. We want to just enjoy it. It should feel like Christmas Eve-- not the night before a jury verdict is announced.

We asked what Smith thought of yesterday’s voting in New Hampshire and received the following statement about the national scene:

“While disappointed I will not be in the Senate in January to help President Bush’s agenda succeed, I am heartened by the knowledge that the Republican Party will once again be in the majority in both chambers.”

That’s it.
