In a time that this country and the world are yearning for smooth and clean elections in order to demonstrate that democracy can work, the question is will this democrat put his lust for power before the needs of a nation ?
Will he follow the example of his hero Al Gore and rip open the confidence of our election system and let it hemorage ?

"Personally, I say recount in Baldwin County if for no other reason than to shut this empty vessel up and get him the heck out of Riley's house." He knows that a recount in Baldwin county will not change anything. That is why he is trying for a statewide recount, what else could he lose? There was not (is not) one case of 'wrong-doings' reported (filed) anywhere in the state.
The law does not allow for a recount just because it was a close election. Kiss Don Siegelman goodbye!!

This headline, "Recount in Alabama Dealt a Setback" should read "Siegheilman Dealt a Setback" (actually a fatal blow). Seigheilman is trying to make Alabama look just like Florida all over again, but it looks like Alabama is not going to let that happen. In Birmingham they love the guvna: Pur due due.

Terry Butts is Riley's lawyer????? Butts ran for Attorney General as a democrat. His first wife was one of my high school English teachers. She is such a nice lady, and he's a great attorney.

"the question is will this democrat put his lust for power before the needs of a nation ? " Yes he would, he's a Democrat. FReepers will be "in the streets" shortly if this is not quickly resolved. (Count on it!)

Which party was in charge of the elections in Baldwin County? In NC, it's the party of the governor that runs the elections in all counties but I gather that each state does it differently. If AL does it like NC, though, the election officials in the county being accused of making the error would be 'rats.
I notice the word "conspiracy" being used by Siegelman's campaign manager. Do these people think that is some kind of magic word like abra-cadabra or open sesame that automatically gets them what they want? Sheesh!

A faulty computer program originally added several thousand votes to the Dem's totals that he had not actually received. When the totals added up to more than the total number of votes cast, officials investigated, recounted several times, and found the correct numbers. Gotta wonder how many times "faulty" computer programs added several thousand votes to the Dem's totals. Gotta wonder how many times Rat districts didn't bother to check if the total votes matched the number of total voters or didn't care if they did check.
I really wish the DOJ or state DOJ would look into who DID the faulty programming. If they find, investigate, and (if appropriate) prosecute the perp, this would be a lot less likely to happen again. Vote fraud doesn't just happen; Somebody has to DO it. We need to get the people who DO it.

Losing governors in Mich, IL, and PA was bad. Losing to Lautenberg and Gray Davis was not great. It was a great win, but not a total win.

"The bottom line is it's a Republican conspiracy at its worst." Voters voting for Republicans is now considered a VRWC? Huh?

Thanks, very interesting link. So it was an actual mistake rather than voter fraud this time. Good.

And if that occurs in or around Mobile, let me know. I'll drive over and support my Home state.

"This headline, "Recount in Alabama Dealt a Setback" should read "Siegheilman Dealt a Setback" Look, Seigelman is mischievious and corrupt, but lets not start tossing around terms like "SeigHeilMan" against Alabama's first Jewish governor. That's a bit much even for me, and I despise the man.

So it was an actual mistake...I suppose that depends on whoever was doing the data entry. Who hired them, what's their party affiliation? we may never learn the answer to this. An essential part of vote tampering is the effort to muddy the results to prolong the process, and deniability always helps.

No, Seigelman is Catholic in Name Only. His wife is Jewish and they are raising their family as Jews.
And hey, that's great and more power to them. Alabama was very open-minded about Seigelman when he ran for governor the first time.
But calling him SiegHeilMan goes over the line. His Jewish wife and Jewish kids can't help but be legitimately offended by that sort of nonsense.

Thanks. Some of these posters really piss me off. I'm occassionally disgusted by the worst of those who claim to be on our side.
