Not exactly. I'd prefer to see a second party that actually stands for something. The Democratic Party does stand for much. It stands for socialist ideology used for the sake of manipulating the naive. It stands for manipulating minority groups, the poor, and the elderly, telling them that conservatives want to trample their rights. It is not that I would so much like to see a second party that agrees with me, but rather that I would prefer to see one that is willing to fight on a level playing field, in the arena of ideas. I cannot say this is true about the current Democratic Party.

A decent political party ought to be successful by virtue of the fact that its ideas resonate with the people. The Democratic Party has been successful in portraying itself as such an entity, but the fact is that it is largely successful only due to the fact that it bends the rules, subverts election laws, and scares people into compliance. I would even argue that the only reason that it has the support of common people is because they want to be loyal to the party of their parents and grandparents.

The other reason I would not weep for the Democratic Party if it collapsed is that it seems to actively cheer for the day when conservatives become completely marginalized. As far as politics go, it is war. When you have an opponent who actively wishes to destroy you, long term survival is only ensured by a willingness to fight and destroy one's opposition. It is a war between two deeply conflicting ideologies of how the nation should be run. It is not wrong to desire to see one's own side prevail over the other side. This is not a desire for a one party system, or even a two party system of the same ideology. It is rather a desire to see one's own ideology become prevalent in the politics of the country.

It would only be backing a one party system if we did not allow our opposition to organize. That would be unacceptable. But, there is no moral rule that necessitates that one desire to see the other side be as influential as one's own. In politics, such is foolishness.

Yes, Jim, it's dead. It's dead Jim.

In Jersey I see that mortal infighting has begun. The winner will be the first to see that a new party is the ticket. Advantage: Hudson County where parties are second to political clubs.

Who knows -- maybe it will be a mass conversion to the GOP -- nah.

Barbra Streisand and friends are kingmakers? Oh Yuck, it's so creepy.

Or maybe it's a bunch of old elite liberals with inherited money and limited brainpower. That seems more likely.

Or sleazy, rich lowlifes like Larry Flynt. The porn pushers don't back Republicans.

Or a more common criminal type, the kind who pay off liberal judges - the Soprano types...Yeah, they're all democrats. I think I know why they "don't show up at meetings".

"The real Party leadership do not show up at meetings, only provide "suggestions" for overall policy. These are the real limousine liberals... "
