LOL .... are you threatening me?
Ain't it amazing that we have "Jackass" the movie and "Jackass" the (dim-bulb wipeout) elections at the same time?
To: Shermy
Now he knows why it is called JACKASS!

I grew up watching the un-edited Looney Tunes, 3 Stooges, Our Gang...etc. My friends and I certainly did some stupid things, but we knew you really couldn't run a saw across someone's head, for instance. Are kids these days really so dumb?

Idiot kid should be made to watch films of the Vietnamese Buddhist monk who pulled the same stunt 40 years ago. Thich Quang Duc, June 11, 1963:
The incredible thing is that unlike those who followed his example, who invariable began writhing and convulsing in pain within seconds of setting themselves on fire, Duc sat utterly motionless in the lotus position until he eventually died and fell backwards to the ground. He never moved or uttered a sound.

You're right. I never see boys out on the street riding bikes, climbing trees, building forts, playing ball. They'd probably be arrested. Where are they? In the house on the computer? Are their parents afraid they'll be abducted by kidnappers or that they'll fall down and skin their knees?
One town in my county is now going to ban motorized scooters, even on private property.
When a dumbass movie like "Jackass" comes along, they go nuts. Kids in one town near me, on their school lunch hour, put one kid on the hood of the car and drove around. The kid fell off and hit his head. He's now in a coma.
It's really a bad time to be a kid now.

The Movie Jackass may actually be performing a service for humanity. Just think how many idiots are getting removed from the gene pool.
To: Shermy
Stupid. Just plain stupid. These people are just like those idiots who accidentally shoot themselves yet can't figure out how they pulled the trigger. So they sue the gun manufacturers, and any day now one of these idiots who lit himself on fire will sue the TV show.

Ironic that someone named Kelvin would set fire to himself.

Kelvin, 15, soaked his shirt in alcohol, and -- as his friends videotaped the prank -- the Bellevue teenager set himself on fire.
Something went wrong.
Well gee, ya think?
To: American Soldier
Sorry, I don't buy this "political agenda-push as social commentary." I don't follow how boys not shooting guns or going to boot camp leads to them setting themselves on fire. And if there was this big correlation, why do we read about maybe 4 or 5 idiots, tops, that have done something as stupid as lighting themselves on fire?
To: AppyPappy
What liability? Do you not believe in free will? So should George Lucas realize his liability when Star Wars Ep II comes out on DVD tomorrow, if some moronic kid shoots another kid, thinking it's Attack of the Clones?
To: bassmaner
But seriously, you're right on the money as far as today's feminized society denying "rites of passage" to young males. A nanny state is as a nanny state does -- and we'll pay the price if we continue to "protect children" to such a degree that we'll not want to let them leave the house until they turn 21.
So if this feminization is so endemic, why have we read of maybe a half-dozen morons that have pulled stunts like this? Shouldn't it be closer to 30 or 40% of kids easy?
To: skeeter
I wouldn't blame the parents. What parent teaches their kids that it's OK to set yourself on fire? Sometimes there are just real morons out there.
To: American Soldier
But look for example at America's game, baseball. We've created softball and T-ball in order to extend infancy just a few years more.
Huh? Softball was created for girls to play. T-Ball is almost for infants, relatively speaking. I've never seen a child over 5 playing T-ball.
