Every once in a while Chris Matthews actually plays a little hardball with a liberal and makes them defend, or at least explain, controversial remarks that they have made.

A recent example of this took place on Thursday evening when Matthews questioned Bill Maher and challenged him to explain the meaning of his now infamous description of launching cruise missles against the Taliban as a corwardly act.

Of course, when push comes to shove, Maher cannot bring himself to blame Clinton for what in his view was a cowardly act even though gave the orders for the strikes. He would rather blame "society"....

Oh please, that is just so .....corwardly.

I read the transcript. In many places there was an "(unintelligible)" written in the transcript. I would place that throughout the transcript, because it was all blather. Neither Mahar or Matthews showed the capacity to express a coherent thought, in their exchange. Matthews repeated what he says about Bush in every show, but I think that is a reflex, rather than a statement formulated through thought. Mahar can't string a sentence together.

Actually, as much as I revile Maher, he is closer to the truth than Matthews gives him credit. In reading the complete interview, Maher states that we had plenty of warning from '93 on, but failed to react to it. He is specific as to not calling the military cowards.

What he points out in calling the American people cowards, is our failure to insist that our leadership take action in response to the several attacks on on the U.S. beginning with the WTC and running through the USS Cole.

He alludes to, but does unequivocably state that Clinton showed a lack of leadership in his response to these attrocities and the citizens were sold halfway measures by our leadership.

This is a nice example of Maher trying to get toothpaste back into the tube. Tough work, and it never really is successful.

Geez, what an enjoyable transcript. I wish I'd seen the show. Matthews made a braying jackass out of Maher. He's the male version of Babs Streisand. Oy!

Maher has been trying to get back in the favor of Liberals ever since he said he didn't vote for Gore and claimed to be a Libertarian.

I hope Matthews and Maher don't believe this is supposed to be some form of intellectual discourse or debate from which the audience will be cerebrally enhanced for having been exposed.

What happened to credentials being necessary to be granted the opportunity to present in a public forum, much less be considered an expert in a particular field?

Do you know what Bill Maher's expertise is?    Me neither;  he is simply an English major graduate.    "bio"
Hold your applause until the end of the show, please.  </sarcasm off>

Some in our culture are entirely too enamored with these celebrities.
To Maher, and the likes of Babs Streisand, Alec Baldwin, Woody Harrelson, Robert Altman, etc., I'd love to pose two simple questions:

This fluff for news makes good FR critique material, but I am sick of hearing from these yahoos.</rant off>
Freegards.

As long as the government continues to leave the doors and windows wide open to our house, there will be no Homeland Security.
