MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA (AP) -- Rosemary Forbes Kerry, a community activist and the mother of U.S. Sen. John Kerry, died Thursday at her home. She was 89.
The cause of death was respiratory complications, a spokesman for Sen. Kerry said.
Mrs. Kerry had a lifelong commitment to wildlife preservation, the environment and community service.
Sen. Kerry, D-Mass., who is expected to run for president in 2004, called her "a spirited campaigner and my best volunteer."
"My mother was always giving to others -- to her children, her extended family and the community," Kerry said. "She was our defender, our nurturer, our supporter and our example."

I'm sure her son is a phony freak, but she was a very nice lady.
Amen to that.
And may Rosemary Kerry rest in peace.
I hope one thing that distinguishes us is an ability to appreciate those parts of life that are not politics, and to recognise the human qualities of those Americans whose vision differs from our own.
I can sympathise with a man who must bury his mother (as must all of us except the unfortunates whose mothers bury them). I hope the Kerry family is sustained by many memories of happier times. And I'll pray for Rosemary Kerry's soul.
Of course, this doesn't mean that I'll vote for the fellow.

Translation: "She'll never stop voting for me."
Does this mean he will or won't somehow shamelessly use her in his next campaign? It's hard to tell with these democrats...
