"This such BS. Why would Saddammnnnn and Al-Qaeda work together? What do they have in common anyway? Yeah, they hate America and they have both killed
innocents, so what.
This smells like an Israeli plot."

People here could die in this war. I slight understatement I must say. Lots of people will die here.

The relationship between Al Quaeda and the Iraqui government strikes me as an 'enemy of my enemy' relationship. Included in that might be Iraqui funding and use of Al Quaeda as a sophisticated sort of 'state hit squad' in the grand tradition of the Hash-hashins, each party using the other.
Would that make such an act state-sponsored terrorism? Yes, in the literal sense, but it would not be state-controlled.
To: Republican_Strategist
That can't be true. I just heard Al Gore on Larry King say that instead of there being evidence that Iraq and Al Qaeda are linked, he's seen evidence to the contrary. :>
I just love it when this kind of stuff comes out the day after a Dem speaks up.

This may sound like flattery to you, but I sincerely think you are one of the keenest, most analytical minds to be found on FR!!!
Your precise prescience and the ability to take such vast facets of scattered and refracted light rays and focus them in a couple of sentences into the most lucid scenario of such high probability is truly inspiring!!!
Now stop blushing and take a well deserved bow from the waist.

Thank you so much for the heads up!

I believe it could be as simple as their common hatred of Saudi Arabia's 'government', if one can believe OBL's rhetoric.

They turned to the hot topic of anthrax. The powder in the letter mailed to Senator Daschle's office had been found to be potent, prompting officials to suggest its source was likely an expert capable of producing the bacteria in huge amounts. Tenet said, "I think it's AQ -- meaning Al Qaeda." "I think there's a state sponsor involved. It's too well thought-out, the powder's too well refined. It might be Iraq, it might be Russia, it might be a renegade scientist, perhaps from Iraq or Russia."
"I'm not going to talk about a state sponsor." Tenet assured them.
"It's good that we don't." said Cheney, "because we're not ready to do anything about it."

You got it. I wonder if we are going to "discover" new facts about the Atta Prague meetings in a month or two when our forces are in place for the invasion?

"We're not ready to do anything about it."-- Cheney Now we and the British have 350 million doses of small pox vaccine and have replenished the smart bombs we used up in Afghanistan and the airstrip is built in Qatar.
Oh, I so hope that liberals and Dashcle will be eating their hats and humble pie for the next six years when we find the proof of what our gut has been telling us all this past year.

The widely held view has been that while Saddam and bin Laden both oppose the United States, their motivations are too different for them to work together. Like we weren't allies with Stalin in WWII, and aren't allies with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia now.
PUH-leeze! Of course these two sociopaths could work together if they felt it was mutually beneficial.

Great catch!
