I was in the fourth grade in class in Fort Worth, Texas. It was one of those portable/temporary buildings they had because of the Baby Boomer glut of kids to teach.

A teacher came into our class and talked to our teacher. I overheard her say that she was having her sack lunch at her desk and just happened to take out her little transistor radio and turned it on just in time to hear the announcement about the President being shot in downtown Dallas. What a shock to all of us back then. Shortly after that, the school dismissed all the students early for the day and I walked home from school. I recall it was a very sad next few days for the whole country.
