I recall it was a very sad next few days for the whole country.

That post was my recollection/memory as a 9 year old of the television coverage of a murdered U.S. President and the nation's mourning of that loss.......

Kennedy advocated some of the things that the GOP now stands for....such as cutting taxes to stimulate economic growth. He was not a far left Democrat, stood down the Soviets, and was a pretty decent human being, imho. I won't trash him on the anniversary of his death. But that's just me.

You are correct that, politically, Kennedy was not as bad as his critics have painted him, but you missed the boat on the personal side where he was a sleazy, drug addicted adulterer and constant liar. Personally he was as bad if not worse than Bubba Blythe and I trash him every chance I get. But that's just me.
