That would have been Wellstone's campaign officer or staffer. I don't remember the name either, but one of the sons was also ranting and raving as well.

"...is there any sane American who would rather have Gore sitting in the Oval Office right now?"

? Keyword being "sane" of course. Hopefully not. Actually, and some may differ with me on this -- It's not so much a President Gore that would be the problem - I believe a President has so many obligations both domestic and otherwise that they are forced by default to make pretty much the 'same' decisions on some of the key issues. At least, I hope so anyway.

But the people he surrounds himself with - there's no question the President has surrounded himself with some VERY capable people, and for that, I am thankful. I'm considerably less confident a President Gore would have done the same.

For some reason I'm reminded of those who criticise the President for his mispronunciation of the word "Nuclear"; the elite cognoscenti apparently find a straight talking, honest human being to be somehow grating on them, he's not an "intellectual" or one of them, I suppose.

Good!

I just read some sort of philosophical masturbatory B.S. with the former Vice President talking about "post-modernism" and "Zeitgeist"; Puh-leeeze. And he thinks the media is "republican"; I got news for ya pal.

The President drives a pickup, chops wood, etc. Can't find any fault with that. Has a beautiful wife and family, the First Lady brings a decided and necessary dignity to the White House as it deserves. Anybody who eschews the use of "Zeitgeist" and pronounces Nuclear "Nukular" is OK with me. I'm not anti-intellectual, but I've got no use for a sophist in the White House.

I suppose former CNN news chief (and frequent Lincoln Bedroom guest) Rick Kaplan was "playing things right down the middle" when he instructed his news anchors and reporters not to use the word "scandal" when talking about Clinton's scandals? The only thing that talk radio and the internet have done to effect the "mainstream media" is make it a little (though only a little) more honest than it has been for decades. "Hokey smokes! There's another point of view out there!"

I still can't believe Gore said what he said with a straight face. But then, he had contact with the Clintons.
Is "pathological liar" a contagious disease?

You've got that right. He should have been indicted and tried for his criminal acts--in addition to being impeached, himself.

We wouldn't even be having a war on terror if the Clinton/Gore team had done their jobs. They did nothing . Absolutely nothing to stop the terrorists for 8 long years. They even let Saddam slide.

Yep. But, unfortunately, it will take many, many years for the truth to be revealed. That's why we have to step forward on our own now. History will persecute the clinton's in time.

Seeing Al Gore just reminded me of another thing I'm thankful for this thanksgiving!

Your turkey? Or not having the Goron as President? Could be both, 'eh?

Golly! He even claps like a robot!

My husband and I noticed that YEARS ago, as did a Chicago Tribune columnist, Eric Zorn, who wrote a column entitled something like "HANDS DOWN, GORE IS A LOUSY CLAPPER" (and I'm not kidding). I'm thinking we saw Al reveal this "clap" problem (more like an uncoordinated 4 yr. old) during Clinton's State of the Union address. I cut out the article to save for posterity, but it unfortunately got lost in the last move we made to this newer home. I wrote the reporter a note thanking him for the great column - he responded and told me he caught a LOT of heat for that one. I'm talking YEARS ago - in the first Clinton term - around 1994 or 1995.

You Can Call Me Al

( Paul Simon )

A man walks down the street,
He says, Why am I soft in the middle now?
Why am I soft in the middle?
The rest of my life is so hard!
I need a photo-opportunity,
I want a shot at redemption!
Don't want to end up a cartoon,
In a cartoon graveyard .....

Bonedigger, Bonedigger,
Dogs in the moonlight.
Far away, my well-lit door.
Mr. Beerbelly, Beerbelly,
Get these mutts away from me!
You know, I don't find this stuff amusing anymore ....

If you'll be my bodyguard,
I can be your long lost pal!
I can call you Betty,
And Betty, when you call me,
You can call me Al!

A man walks down the street,
He says, Why am I short of attention?
Got a short little span of attention,
And whoa, my nights are so long!
Where's my wife and family?
What if I die here?
Who'll be my role-model?
Now that my role-model is ....
Gone ...... gone,
He ducked back down the alley,
With some roly-poly, little bat-faced girl.
All along .... along ....
There were incidents and accidents,
There were hints and allegations .....

If you'll be my bodyguard,
I can be your long lost pal!
I can call you Betty,
And Betty, when you call me,
You can call me Al!
Call me Al ......

A man walks down the street,
It's a street in a strange world.
Maybe it's the Third World.
Maybe it's his first time around.
He doesn't speak the language,
He holds no currency.
He is a foreign man,
He is surrounded by the sound, sound ....
Cattle in the marketplace.
Scatterlings and orphanages.
He looks around, around .....
He sees angels in the architecture,
Spinning in infinity,
He says, Amen! and Hallelujah!

If you'll be my bodyguard,
I can be your long lost pal!
I can call you Betty,
And Betty, when you call me,
You can call me Al!
You can call me Al ......

LOL. I just checked my e-mail before getting ready to log off and go to bed. Lo and behold - there was mail from a friend who just watched Gore. It said "Man, after the election the democrats are going totally insane! Did you hear Gore on Fox?"
LOL. Everyone seams to be noticing that! The person who wrote it isn't even into politics!! It cracked me up.LOL

There's a time for politics and a time for entertainment! A few more appearances on Leno's show by Al Bore like the one he gave tonight, and he won't be able to be elected dog catcher much less President. Doesn't he know when it's time to shut up! Did Jay look like he was happy to get over with or what?

Speaking of his book, he and Tipsy were in Seattle this past week to do book signings at a local bookstore, and at Costco. The Costco signing was a flop, and they still have mountains of unbought signed books. I see by the issue of the Costco magazine that came today that they gave the books a full page plug, and the article is as dull and boring as he is. Costco is pulling out all the plugs to push the book, because Jim Sinegall who founded (and is CEO of Costco) is a big financial supporter of Democrats. I wouldn't be surprised if the Gorons didn't stay at Sinegal's mansion. That's ok. No amount of promotion is going to make a silk purse out of this sow's ear.

"...I believe a President has so many obligations both domestic and otherwise that they are forced by default to make pretty much the 'same' decisions on some of the key issues. At least, I hope so anyway".

That's a huge and unfounded assumption. Do you think George Bush would have done nothing after the first WTC bombing? You also don't seem to remember all the moaning and groaning the libs were doing during the Afghanistan campaign and the breathless Times reports about the civilian victims. Do you really think that a person who governs by polls like the Democrats do, would have stuck it out? Even McCain was putting on the pressure to put more "boots" on the ground. The body bags would have come in, sapping our morale and determination.
Just because Bush is making the right decisions doesn't mean it's as asy as he makes it look, or that those decisions were obvious. You are right about the people he would have surrounded himself with would have been appeasers (Albright & co.).

Stay tuned, Al Bore is to host NBC's Saturday Night Live in December! In which opening segment, no doubt, he will offer the American public a definition of the word Zeitgeist!

OK, now this guy is just scaring me.

When the old couple are on and he's trying to casually cross his legs to (1) look relaxed and (2) look smaller, he never seemed more calculating to me.

Darn, I missed it.

Can you tell me if Gore used the word "leitmotif" at any point tonight? I have a bet going as to what word he'll reach for after he realizes people are laughing about "zeitgeist".

Hey watch it, buster! (grin) I didn't bother going to my high school prom - long story not worth going into here ;-) - I think I scared the guys, quite honestly. Redhead, top of my class, etc. etc. etc. Suffice it to say that most of my high school classmates spend their free time still hanging out at the local bar/dive in my hometown allthewhile living from paycheck to paycheck, while my husband and I are making triple figures as computer geeks/nerds :-).
