Dave, I think you are incorrect "We don't have sales tax either, probably because the legislature can't just enact one, it needs to be approved by the voters.."
Every state I know of charges gasoline sales tax. West Virginia the highest and Georgia the lowest.

Well yeah, I actually thought about qualifying that as referring to a general sales tax, but figgered everybody would know what I mean. Fact is, we do have sales tax on many sorts of goods, plus our corporate income taxes and other business taxes and fees add up to plenty and we all know that consumers, not corporations, pay every penny of them in the end. That's pretty much third grade economics, so I omitted the assumed word "general" in my post.
Now see what you went and did? Done got me started. (g)
