Agree w/ your above.

The "toons" kept the wraps on the TWA 800 SAM terrorist attack. It was a top-down order from the Executive branch to cover this debacle: Muddy the waters w/the US Navy to take the blame.

Btw, the Navy does not conduct surface to air, live firing, or any sort of live ordnance expenditures in the OpArea off the coast of southern Long Island. Use logic if one doubts. The air space in and around the Tri-State area is consistently jammed w/comair.

Vacapes, several hundred miles south and east of the Virginia/Norfolk coast is where these tests and training occur.

Agent Kallstrom, FBI (Ret), knows what the deal was and is.
I think he's good and honest man. He took an oath...(as many of us did)...and will remain on the game board...for now. Truth will always trump BS. Kallstrom will eventually turn over his hold cards.

Mustang sends.

"While the missile fired in Kenya thankfully missed its target, future targets may not be as fortunate," Clinton wrote to Ridge. "I urge you to develop an action plan as soon as possible to address the potential threat to U.S. airliners by shoulder-fired missiles."

Last Thursday's missile attack has raised speculation on just how safe domestic airlines are from such weapons. Clinton's office said that as far as it knew the senator was the first person to raise such issues since the attack.

Hey Hillary .. KISS MY IRISH @$$

If you were sooooooo damn concerned then why did you and partner in crime hubby ignore our national security for 8 YEARS!!!

Didn't anybody catch something curious? Senator Clinton, for the first time, is saying she wants a missile defense system of some sort! I thought she was against that! After all, "why should we defend ourselves against missiles when a terrorist could just bring an nuke in a suitcase".

No No .. watch her words .. she is playing both sides of the fence on this one

From the picture:   "The Russian-made SA-7 missile launchers used in the Kenya attack."

Can anyone help?

How do we know that the missile used was an SA-7? Is someone in the media just jumping to conclusions or did they find an empty SA-7 missile launch tube or SA-7 missile wreckage? I've heard that Kenya has been very closed mouth about their investigation and is refusing outside assistance, so I'm having doubts about the authenticity of the unsupported allegations I've been reading about this.

Regards,

Boot Hill

Isn't that just so Clintonian? HE was forever telling us "This administration was the first to (fill in the blank), wasn't he?" Always patting themselves on their own backs!

She should log onto FR; how long do you think it took for somebody to post a remark JUST like that as soon as the article hit Breaking News? And that was LAST WEEK.

Wouldn't you be concerned about heat seeking missiles if you were as full of hot air as Hillary is?

CBS ran this story, too. They are pathetically complicit in the lame attempt to make the co-rapist relevant.

After Flight 800 exploded off the Long Island coast in 1996, a White House Commission on Aviation Safety and Security looked at threat possibilities and safety measures before issuing a report in 1997.

The commission recommended that the Defense Department, intelligence agencies and defense contractors study the possibility of anti-missile systems for civil aviation. It also recommended that international diplomacy restrict the sales of man-portable surface-to-air missiles.

CNN has made a drastic error by including this little tidbit in the article. This is the commission headed by then VP Gore that would not place any time limits on their recommendations. All in the name of nearly $600,000 in campaign contributions from the airlines for Mrs. Clinton's husband's re-election efforts. I'm certain the powers that be at CNN will be hearing from Monica Lewinsky's ex-boyfriend's wife before the day is over.

I read through the replies but I notice that most are tongue in cheek. That worries me because I think that the Hildebeest is not to be taken lightly.

There seems to be a not so subtle movement gaining ground to nationalize the airline industry. Requiring airlines to have active and passive defenses against missile attacks would certainly tip the scales in favor of nationalization. It would also add significantly to the national debt load. Do not discount the effects of a mounting national debt, in many ways, on the next round of elections.

This is easy. Simply allow the population in NY to arm themselves, call out the militia and declare any rag head with a sholder fire missle a free fire zone.

“Last Thursday's missile attack has raised speculation on just how safe domestic airlines are from such weapons. Clinton's office said that as far as it knew the senator was the first person to raise such issues since the attack.”

It could be that everyone else knows there is no way to effectively defend against such an attack, short of showering the area surrounding airports with flares for every incoming and outgoing flight.
Local residents and fire departments would not think to highly of such a plan.
