Sir:
Bouthania Shaaban says the U.S. is "Rattling the 'Doors of Hell'" by threatening Saddam Hussein. I agree. Except the doors of hell were opened on 9/11/2002 by an attack worse than Pearl Harbor (on U.S. soil, against U.S. non-combatants). By this act, islamic radicals proclaimed that 'there are no civilians'. Very well; we now understand the rules.
His piece is replete with loaded rhetoric. For example, he faults western media for "condemning Palestine whenever an Israeli is killed [note the singular] and show[ing] solidarity with Israel every time it commits another massacre." [note the 'massacre']
Palestinians kill single Israelis; the Israelis commit "massacres"--at least so Mr. Shaaban would have us believe.
Shaaban trots out the tired old claim that Israel is "occupying" Palestinian land. There is no occupation. Those lands were annexed by Israel by right of conquest after a massed and unprovoked attack against them by arab nations. There being a finite amount of land on Earth, there are only 2 ways nations acquire or lose territory: by conquest or purchase. Both are perfectly valid, and the arabs are welcome to re-conquer the "territories" at any time. They have proven spectacularly bad at the conquering business. Perhaps they should use some of the trillions of dollars of oil money languishing in Swiss bank accounts to buy the territories from the Israelis. Those funds certainly are not doing anything to help poor arabs on the street--except perhaps to fund terrorist organizations such as Al Quaeda.
The West (Western Civilization) is at war with Islam, a culture which seeks to return to the seventh century A.D. This war is not about Israel, it is about the hatred of Western culture by a culture stuck in the past, and deeply humiliated by our achievements.
We build jet airliners; they can only use them as terror weapons.
We perform medical miracles, cures to plagues that have cursed mankind for centuries; they can only think of using germs as devices of terror.
We send humans to the moon; they cannot---but they can strap explosives to teenage girls to be detonated on busses.
We invent devices to flash sound and images around the world at the speed of light; they can only use those devices to plan the next terror attack.
The last significant arab contribution to mankind was the invention of the zero (0).
Where was the condemnation of the "moderate" arab world after 9/11? Where is it now? How much cooperation have we received from Saudi Arabia and the rest of the rotten terror states in tracking down and arresting the monsters that plan and execute terrorism?
There will be more attacks on U.S. soil. They, however, will be our fault, because we refuse to take prudent measures against the terrorist cells and sleepers still among us. Eventually they will bring down the Sears tower with a portable nuke, or release smallpox in St. Louis.
THEN perhaps the doors of hell will swing open fully, and large mushrooms will appear over islamic capitals--including Damascus--and holy cities.
Do not presume to tell us about the doors of hell, Mr. Shaaban; WE have the keys.

Melted sand bump!
LOL!!!
You tell 'em, Boris. I'm quite sick and tired of getting MOONED by their MOON god [Kaaba idol!!!].
Sorry, but you'll have to go a bit farther back to find a significant Arab contribution to mankind. The zero that the Arabs passed around was an invention of Hindus in India.
Neither can we anymore. We are spending too much money on welfare for illegal aliens, including some of them. Hmmm..maybe we could envigorate the space program by gearing up to ship the sand dwellars to someplace like Mars. Perfect spot for them, since it's pretty much a big desert anyway. Drier than they are used to, and the air is kind of thin, but those are the breaks when you PO the Big Dog.

Destruction is always much easier than construction.
Interesting observation coming from the LA Times, which regularly practices the same tactics to justify their domestic politcal bias.
Quote of the day material indeed...
Bump
The bells of hell go ting-a-ling-a-ling
For you but not for me;
And the little devils how they sing-a-ling-a-ling
For you but not for me.
O Death, where is thy sting-a-ling-a-ling,
O Grave, thy victor-ee?
The bells of hell go ting-a-ling-a-ling,
For you but not for me.
And to say royal blue is a darker color than yellow could be called "colorist" by those whose real intention is to keep others from expressing the obvious. It's an old and oft used liberal tactic...like insisting that anyone who dares to believe that homosexuality is immoral is "homophobic", as if there is no way someone could believe it is wrong without being frightened by it, when fear has nothing to do with the matter.
It's a battle strategy: call the detractors names, the louder the better, until you can get them to back off and you can have your way. Keep up the tactic at every opportunity, and eventually an increasing number of people will go along to avoid being attacked and some will, just out of familiarity, even begin to believe the unsubstatiated claims.
