Since the Cold War began, no Democratic President has successfully concluded an armed conflict. Every military mess they have gotten into has been cleaned up by a Republican President. Republicans alone have demonstrated competence at prosecuting military might:

Korea - begun by Truman - ended by Eisenhower

Bay of Pigs - begun by Kennedy - ended in failure

Vietnam - begun by Kennedy - ended by Nixon/Ford

Iran crisis - bungled by Carter - ended by Reagan

The Cold War - begun by Truman - ended by Reagan

Panama and Grenada - Reagan started and quickly dispatched these campaigns

Beiruit - begun by Reagan - ended by Reagan

Desert Storm - Bush 41 started and finished decisively

Islamist terror attacks (WTC 1993, USS Cole, embassy bombings) - begun under Clinton - left to be finished by Bush 43

Desert Storm II - Clinton allowed Saddam to ignore the conditions for the cessation of hostilities. Now it is Bush 43's job to wrap it up.

Which party really loves peace? The ones who start wars or end wars?

FDR and Truman (Democrats) prosecuted and ended WWII. To that extent they do not fit into the Cold War/post-Cold War mold of Democrats who have failed tu\o unerstand the use of the American military.

Would the Japanese have dared to attack Pearl Harbor, or would the Nazis have dared to attack our allies if a more effective President had been in office?
