Immigrant patients have inflated medical expenses for insurance companies, Medicaid and paying customers, officials say, and are overwhelming already busy hospitals in one of nation's fastest-growing regions.
One recent study by the U.S.-Mexico Border Counties Coalition, an American lobbying group, found U.S. border hospitals provided at least $200 million a year in uncompensated emergency care to illegal immigrants, $74 million of that in Texas.

They ARE costing hospitals big money. And each and every one of us with health insurance is paying for it.

That is because ER's are not allowed to refuse medical care to anyone regardless if they have insurance or not

I think this bill should be sent right to Fox. It's HIS citizens that are bringing our hospitals (and various government entities) to bankruptcy and he wants an "migration" deal with the U.S. These people are such leeches and a plague on the American taxpayers. I'm at least glad to see that these topics are being discussed much more openly. Hopefully something will be done to stop this invasion!

This can't be true. I've been assured by the racist open-borders crowd that the flood of immigrants provides a net economic benefit.

Yeah, it does provide a net economic benefit... FOR MEXICO.
To: Mo1
That is true. And we pay for that treatment, for illegals and those without medical insurance, in our premiums.

Several months ago I was in a meeting where the administrator of a hospital near the border was speaking. He said that last year the hospital wrote off 5 million dollars for care of people that they could verify were illegally in this country, he thought that there was nearly that much more written off, for people who were illegals but they couldn't verify they were illegals.

I think this bill should be sent right to Fox.This we can do. They have oil fields we can sieze.
Right. Like that would happen.
To: new cruelty
Yeah, it does provide a net economic benefit... FOR MEXICO.Yes, but also for all the American companies that employ illegal aliens. Cheap wages for them, and the average CIITZEN picks up the tax increase. Schools and hospitals are overrun, but "Si habla Espanol"?
Bush has to do somehting and stand up to that loud-mouthed El Presidente Fox.

Brand X....
It aint just the border states anymore that suffer. Far north of that we have illegals, legals and what not. They get same care as the rest of us, and no cost.
I lay all of this at the feet of Bush, no one else. It is getting worse and he invites more. If he wants to ba a one termer like Dad, he is well on the road.
Before the partisan pubs here start their rants about dems being worse, yeah, yeah, heard all that before and still the tide engulfs us.

Immigrant patients have inflated medical expenses for insurance companies, medicaid, and paying customers officials say...It's not that insurance companies need much of an excuse to raise premiums through the roof whether it's auto, medical, life or liability. However, when adding attorneys, AIDS patients, the poor, and illegal aliens to the equation, the working middle-class gets it right in the behind.

U.S. Hospitals Along Mexican Border Say Illegal Immigrants Are Costing Them Big Money So turn them away. Period. Only Catholic hospitals are mandated to accept everyone.
To: new cruelty
Catching border jumpers costs this country millions every year.
Why can't we sentence them to a year or so at heavy labor at a special government farm every time they do this....?

Ya can have a Bush or AwlGore. This is your choice. How terrible is this. We have an oligarchy. I see no reason to vote. 80% want the borders secured. You can send your children to war, let the terrorist come in freely, let the Mex trucks take away American jobs or have AwlGore. But both will RAISE the Federal debt & both will take your liberties away.
