Member of Knesset Yossi Sarid, the leader of the left wing Meretz Party, called on the Labor candidates who failed to secure a place on their party list to join Meretz. He was referring to left wing activists Yossi Beilin, Tzali Reshef, and Yael Dayan.

Meretz is a semi-Marxist party to the LEFT of Labor. Considering Labor is seeking to position itself to the LEFT of Hadash, the Israeli Communists, it would be ironic if Meretz finished in front of Labor in next month's elections.
