Let's hope your experience "being poor" was a good incentive for you to better your situation instead of whining and crying for some gov't handout taken from someone who earned it.
I've learned something new about socialists recently. It's not that they just have a desire to give people money that isn't earned (from people who did earn it). Their driving force is to make sure that those who have wealth are brought down. It's a filthy, jealous driving passion.

I second that statement.
Been there, done that. As a (much) younger man I lived for a week on a head of lettuce and a salt shaker of salt along with tap water.
Sure made me want to better myself.
