The lesbian "rock opera" Jesus Has Two Mommies will show this Christmas season at the Somerville Theatre near Boston, MA.

Jesus Has Two Mommies dares to distort the sacred mysteries of Christmas, showing Jesus born to two lesbians, Mary and Josephine. Among blasphemous mockeries of God, the virgin birth, and the Holy Family, Jesus Has Two Mommies portrays Mary and Josephine's affair at a lesbian bar, the "real Christmas story."

According to press reports: "Luckily the trio is up to the challenge. The trio consisted of God... Jesus and the angel Gay-briel. ...Blessing Faith [Faith Soloway, the author] with a Psalm Pilot, they present the real sotry of Jesus' birth and life. It all started at the 'hottest lesbian spot in all of Nazareth - The Burning Bush.' Among the patrons of this bar are a local carpenter named Josephina... and the newcomer Mary... the couple ignites immediately" (Out In The Mountains, Jan-02).

I was outraged when I learned of this production through literature from TFP in the back of my church. The protest was staged on December 7th and was a success with the director cancelling a couple of shows and the negative publicity reducing ticket sales (see the TFP site for details on the protest)

What is SO frustrating is that these sexual deviants and their supporters can desecrate anything we hold sacred, but just imagine what would happen if someone got ahold of their "rainbow flag" and burned it. I'm sure that person would be arrested and tried for "hate crimes."

Socialism (in the guise of liberalism) is the cancer that is rotting this country and destroying all that has made it great.

The people that do this sort of thing are just plain evil.

This is only done to mock Christianity. No one really believes Jesus was born to lesbians.

If they don't believe, so what, if they choose to believe Christians are dumb, knuckle dragging creatures in need of enlightenment why do they mock? Why not have some respect for other people and traditions. Why, because they are just evil.

And they are truly pathetic and sad.

At the same time, I'm always amused by productions like this, and Corpus Christi by Terrence McNally. If these people didn't secretly realize the truth of what they're mocking, they wouldn't mock it.

I had the same feeling when I came across that line. After I read the flyer, I was trembling with anger. I usually shrug or laugh these things off as some leftie in desperate need of attention, but this production absolutely crossed the line with me.

No, they would not. They might get arrested for violating some kind of municipal ordinance (you can't even burn leaves anymore in most locales), but you can still engage in such a protest activity. Libel laws would never apply here. This is an insult to Christians, but insults are not prosecutable - otherwise, half the members of FR would be in jail.
