He is right to a point. But Hanukkah is not the major holiday for the Jews like Christmas is to all Christians. I wonder what he would think if Christians decided, at the same time as Yom Kippur, for instance, to take some mediocre event in the history of the Christian faith and demanded that he be held to the same importance as the high holy days for the Jews? Im not trying to be insulting but there is a difference between the importance of Hanukkah and Christmas to their respected religions. And the tooth fairy comment is a bit insulting.

I don't think it matters if it is important or not. It's we Gentiles who popularized Hanukkah by promoting it as the Jewish "Christmas." Anyway, his point was, if it is in a public place, let the public use it for all religions, instead of pretending religion doesn't exist.
Merry Christmas to you as well. It was quite a gift that the world was given 2000 years ago.
