I send the San Francisco BSA a contribution every year. They're really in the belly of the beast -- where NAMBLA is considered good and the Scouts evil.

Those interested in helpng the Scouts defend their First Amendment rights against the onslaught of those who attack them in court cases, should visit this site:

www.defendscouting.com

It is operated by colleagues of mine who are associated with Judge Robert Bork. I fully share their beliefs that Scouting is an excellent program for boys and young men. As for me, one of my finest teachers and role models was my Scoutmaster, Dr. Carl Zapffe. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 35 in Baltimore, Md., for forty years. In that time he turned out more than 240 Eagles.

Balancing the Ninth

It was the fifth time the Ninth Circuit had been reversed in a month. Seven of eight cases already decided by the high Court this year from the Ninth Circuit have been reversed, and six of those seven were by unanimous or nearly unanimous rulings. A few years ago, the Supreme Court even took the extraordinary step of issuing a special order barring the Ninth Circuit from issuing any further last-minute rulings in a death penalty case. The year I was fortunate enough to serve as a law clerk at the Supreme Court, 28 of 29 cases from the Ninth Circuit resulted in reversals. It is almost as if one could write a word processing macro — call it the [Alt-9] macro — which would automatically insert at the end of any opinion involving a case from the Ninth Circuit the following conclusion: "The opinion of the Ninth Circuit is reversed; the decision of the Court is unanimous."

The Ninth Circuit is by far the largest Circuit Court in the country. It is the largest geographically, covering the western states of California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Hawaii — more than one-third of the entire nation. Thus it is no surprise that the lion's share of cases taken by the Supreme Court each term recently come from the Ninth Circuit, but it does not explain the high reversal rate.

Someone will take this to court. It will be decided that the Bar associations have no right to do this. At least this time it won't be the BSA's money that's being used up on lawyers.

The fascist Gaystapo is in overdrive again, seeking to take away the Constitutional rights of government servants. Soon a judge won't be able to attend an all male poker night or to be a member of the Catholic Church. The fact is, judges, lawyers, etc. etc. have every right to associate with whomever they want - for whatever reasons they want.

Comwatch,

AHHH, I see the bunker lights have been burning deep in the night yet again.

The young people of this country should be protected. I was a scout in canada and my parents never hesitated to enroll me. My troop was at my church and my Sunday school teachers were also my Scout Leaders. It fostered a real family atmosphere. We (dare I say it) said the "Lord's Prayer" and our "oath of allegience" along with the national anthem at the beginnig of each scout night. We learned survival skills and made new friends.

Some organizations should not change. When I wasn't picked for the school hockey team I didn't get a NAACP lawyer to force my high school to let me play. I just practiced harder. When I was refused the opportunity to be in my ROTC drill team, I practiced harder. This is becoming a larger issue than just the boy scouts. Look at the organization that is trying to force the owners of a golf course that has been around longer than these individuals have been alive to allow women to be members.

If I put on a little dress, and sold cookies, can I be a girl scout. I warn you though, If you say no, The NAACP will be calling and I will have you slapped in cuffs for infringing on my equal rights.

Why can gays discriminate on gender but Boyscouts cannot be disgusted by these fascists? I have a big problem with those who see sex as a privileged act and not as a life privileging act, and I cannot understand for the life of me why a court would start a war and disturb the peace for these people's privileges as opposed to the right and job the Boyscouts have. In fact, arent they supporting form over substance here? Dumping the boyscouts because they are not "pure" according to a government is the most fascist proposition yet.
