I lived in the south for four years, I'm sure they were offendd by Lotts remarks on BET. He all but admitted he was a racist. He could have very easily turned it around on the RATS but for some reason he dug an even deepr hole for himself.

If you look at his leadership rein the government Grew, Lott was nowhere to be found to stick up for taxpaying people, he was as inept as Dole, another big government conservative. I'm hoping the GOP can get back to it's roots and start cutting programs that are foolish and trying to put more money in the taxpayers pocket. I still have 20 more years of work and I'll be damed if I want to live on social secuity payments alone. Give me a tax break and let me decide how best to invest my money for retiement.

Trent Lott, I believe, is a decent man. He is, however, inept. I think if the President got involved in this mess, it was after Lott told BET that there had been immoral leadership in the South for a long time and that he was now for complete affirmative action. President Bush, at that moment, probably felt he had to do something. And people better start realizing that this President doesn't need Karl Rove or anybody else to tell him what to do. I am really tired of having people HERE insinuate that he can't make a decision without Rove's approval. I find that disgusting and it's what the RATS say to undermine him. Even liberal Bob Woodward had to reluctantly admit that this President is tough, strong and a leader. Bush was not about to sit there and allow this situation to continue - now, that would have been weak.
