You forget that the GOP immune system is on constant hair trigger alert. Those who were frightened of being labeled "racist" are now satisfied.
But another interest group now emerges. Frist will get "the treatment" from the single-issue pro-lifers. Don't discount the anger if he fails to pursue a PBA ban.
These folks can wreck the GOP in elections.
Bush will not push it forward, that is for certain.
I imagine Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and NOW are well-pleased, as are the population planners in the UN.
Pass the PBA and all will be well. The pro-lifers will be happy and the pro-choicers will be smart enough to stay away from the issue. It's time we quit caving.
The pro-lifers, the Libertarians, the Perotistas,..... when will the Republicans get to be responsible for what happens to them in elections? It just doesn't seem fair.
You just can't turn loose of that bone, can you? (Can't make a decent argument-attack the motive. Check.)
Far be it for you to admit that there are many Republicans who simply consider back-handed kudos to segregationism to be repugnant, no matter who is guilty of it.
