Raelian clone to be unveiled?
Associated Press
New York A chemist and Raelian bishop who said last week that her company would soon produce the world's first human clone a baby girl genetically identical to her 30-year-old mother has promised an announcement Friday.
A spokeswoman for Brigitte Boisselier and the company, Clonaid, declined to answer directly when asked if they will claim to have produced the world's first cloned baby.
But the spokeswoman, Nadine Gary, said Thursday that Ms. Boisselier intends to have video equipment at a news briefing in Florida and would have an "independent inspector" take DNA evidence from baby and mother. If the baby was a clone of the mother, the two would be genetically identical.
Many scientists are skeptical about Clonaid's ability to accomplish the feat. The company was founded in the Bahamas in 1997 by Claude Vorilhon, a former French journalist and leader of the Raelians group. Mr. Vorilhon and his followers claim aliens visiting him in the 1970s revealed they had created all life on Earth through genetic engineering.
Cloning produces a new individual using only one person's DNA. Scientists remove the genetic material from an unfertilized egg, then introduce new DNA from a cell of the animal to be cloned. Under the proper conditions, the egg begins dividing into new cells according to the instructions in the introduced DNA.
Ms. Boisselier, who claims two chemistry degrees and previously was marketing director for a chemical company in France, identifies herself as a Raelian bishop.
Ms. Boisselier would not say where Clonaid has been carrying out its experiments.

Just a quick note for those who might be unaware ... the Rael cult's members are mostly French-speaking, from France, Quebec, and Switzerland, plus a few in Britain. They are extremely spaced-out and flaky. This report is probably a hoax.

Are you sure that the birth wasn't a Klingon ?

Hasn't the problem with cloning animals been that they have a shortened lifespan (age faster) and have physical disabilities? How could they dare inflict this possibility on a human?

Clone baby birth claim
December 27, 2002
A BABY has been born through cloning, French scientist and member of the Raelian sect Brigitte Boisselier have claimed. The baby, a girl, was born on Thursday by caesarean section. The birth "went very well," said Boisselier, president of the human cloning society Clonaid, on the telephone.
As the effort by the Raelians to achieve the first human birth by cloning was carried out in the utmost secrecy, it was not immediately possible to obtain any independent scientific confirmation that the baby was in fact a clone.

Science marches forward, morality marches backwards.
Some day this will hit a big wall. A really big wall.

Humankind's hubris is beyond the pale. Beyond the pale. People who are too good to live in normal middle class housing but must have five bedroom homes with a pool, who are too good to drive an everyday Chevy but must have a Porsche, who wait too damn long to have childrn the normal way, whose infertility is the result of their own damn choice, are now prepared to pay certified psychos to cut them a kid from their own DNA...Damn the mutations, full speed ahead, they WILL have what they WILL have. May God have mercy on us all, but especially on those among us who have a hypertrophied sense of entitlement. What horrors this technology will bring to humankind.

This may or may not be a hoax but someone will do this before much longer. This is what scientific research performed in a moral vacuum ultimately leads to.
We've taken God's procreational gift and perverted it in just about every way possible. From the condom culture to the aborting of naturally conceived children, to the exhaltation of sodomy. Cloning just about completes the full set of abuses.
Human pride once again rebels against God's natural order. We have to take something beautiful, which is the fruitfulness of a man and a woman joined in wedlock, and piss it up against a wall.
