Hey there, Miss Marple! I was going to tell you this on ATRW today (I just woke up!), but since you were here on the Dose last night, I'll reply here......

The Woodward book seemed very positive about the admin.....especially the President, at first, but the further you go along, the more critical it becomes, IMO. The (imagined) divide between Powell and Rumsfeld increases, their (imagined)faults exaggerated. The President seems less and less capable, and the 'mindreading' skills of Woodward grow exponentially.

I still think that the general public will have a very positive impression of the President as a result of the book, though, and that is a good thing. Do you agree?

I felt bad after reading George and Laura too. So many things I didn't need or want to know to the point where I wondered if any of it was accurate.

There is so much inconsistency between the 'traditional gentleman' that his fiance described, the instant attraction the very particular Laura felt, and their quick courtship and marriage, and this horrific womanizing slob implied by the rest of the book.

I concluded that he was a wonderful young man, who occasionally drank too much and who didn't give a rip what his apartment looked like, or what clothes he was wearing.

Laura would never have been interested in the person they tried to portray him to be in that book.

It's all part of the 'W is a stupid nothing whom Laura saved from the gutter and is thus unworthy of being our President' left-wing tripe, IMO.

OH, my GOODNESS!!! The TWO TOWERS is FANTASTIC!!!!

Our whole family went to see it last night.......daughter 2 had seen it twice before, and the other kids once.......

I thought it was WAY better than the first one because of the incredible spiritual symbolism in it in the fight of good against evil......the battle between the good/evil nature of man in Gollum (Romans 7), the incredible Gandalf scene on the white horse and sword right out of Revelation, the fact that we must fight evil regardless of it's convenience ("There will be no Shire" if we ignore this).

AMAZING MOVIE!!! I LOVED it!!!

You've got my prayers, dear friend!

Jehovah Jireh.......God provides. He's going to take care of your needs, lawgirl.......but being patient can be really hard for us "I can do it myself" types. :o) Sometimes we just have to rest, and wait for the Lord to reveal HIS will for us.

He did a good job! You know, we didn't realize it was henry thomas until about a third of the way through. My husband turned over and said "isn't that the kid from E.T." LOL!

SuziQ--thanks for the kind words and prayers. :)

Just redid my kitchen and a bathroom vanity.... Used an ol'wash stand and added a bowl on top with a Kohler faucet that looks like a pitcher pump. FIts into the barn really well! Built four cabinets out of barn wood for the kitchen.

Sounds incredible! Rustic, yet modern. Do you have any pictures? I'd love to see it.

As for my cheery bathroom, that's exactly what I was going for- cheery. It's the first place I go when I wake up so I wanted it to be bright and cheery.

Thanks. I just keep writing the tithe checks and never looking back, so I am not THAT worried, but it's still kind of scary. :-D

Hey lawgirl-

Sounds like you did the right thing with your job. Anytime a job wants us to compromise our ethics, morals and values, its time to go. Where will you be moving? West Michigan is a beautiful part of the country... hint, hint.

No kidding......it IS scary.....

Sort of like the scene in Indiana Jones, the Last Crusade where Harrison Ford steps out into the abyss and the bridge appears AFTER he's taken the first step.

Faith is not easy, even when you've been a Christian for a really long time. You've just had the advantage of seeing God work, and provide for you in the past, and know that He'll do it again.

He'll take care of you, lawgirl. You did the right thing!

Reunion?? Did somebody mention a reunion??

You know that I happen to have a daughter who lives in Milwaukee, and live quite close to Michigan.....which we usually refer to only as 'that state up north.' LOL!

There are bunches of Bushbots in Ohio/Indiana/Michigan/Illinois/Wisconsin! ................rintense, is your house cleaned up?! ;o)

***I locked her in the cellar for the week. She's obnoxious. As usual.

I heard that.

***I only play Christmas music from Thanksgiving until early January. Do you play it other times of the year?

Grammie's dementia sets in at regular intervals throughout the year...one can hear jingle bells at Easter and in July. Disgraceful. She's such a dork.

Good to see you here, McLynnan. :o)

I'm so bummed about Bush At War. I just bought it - reluctantly - and have just started reading it. I wasn't going to buy it but so many recommended it on FR that I thought I would give it a try. Sounds like this is one of those books that only one of us should have bought and then passed it around!

As for George and Laura, I thought it was just a rehash of much that has already been written about both of them. I didn't find the stuff about W too insulting - sounds to me like he was just a bit of a party boy who enjoyed having fun with his friends, etc. The book wasn't, as is the case with many books, what it portended to be though and I was disappointed in that it didn't really have anything new in it.

I'm still going to read Bush at War and will give my take on it when done but I have a feeling it will be pretty similiar to both of yours!

Happy Birthday Pippin - a day late.

I wasn't on the Dose last night. We went and saw STOMP in the city. It was great. It was in a small theatre - about 300 people and our seats were excellent. The only downer was this woman two rows behind us who felt compelled to whup and howler throughout the whole thing. She was really obnoxious. I don't think there wasn't a person in the theatre who didn't want to ring her neck or at least muzzle her mouth! Errrrr.

Anyway, it's a great show.

I hope you sell your house soon and I shall keep you in my prayers. I agree that it sounds like you did the right thing about quitting your job. Sounded like they drove you like a workhorse anyway!

Good luck with the house selling and keep the faith!
