Confrontation with US inevitable: North Korea (Bring it on commies!)

SEOUL: North Korea warned on Sunday that confrontation with the United States was inevitable as tensions escalated over its decision to expel United Nations monitors from a controversial nuclear site.

"Inevitable is the confrontation with the imperialists as long as they do not abandon the aggressive and predatory nature," said a commentary in the Rodong Sinmun newspaper, the mouthpiece of the ruling communist party.

"The imperialist reactionaries are seriously mistaken if they think they would bring the Korean people, who regard independence as their life and soul, to their knees with pressure," it added.

The latest salvo in the war of rhetoric came after the North Korean government organisation in charge of Korean affairs said in a statement that the United States was "desperate to bar the Korean nation from achieving reconciliation and cooperation by itself."

"Timed to coincide with its futile 'nuclear racket', the US is deepening the crisis on the Korean peninsula by shamelessly meddling in the issues related to the inter-Korean relations and hamstringing the process to warm them," said the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland in a statement on Saturday.

The accusation coincided with an anti-US rally in Pyongyang by some 10,000 people who called for "sacred anti-US resistance".

North Korea has come under widespread international condemnation for taking a series of steps to restart a nuclear power plant that could be used to produce weapons-grade plutonium.

This morning on Tony Snow I thought I heard that 70% of NK's military is sitting just north of the DMZ. Anyone else thinking of sending a six pack of daisy cutters?

Hows about some of theses?

The MLRS M270 Launcher, a derivative of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV), is the standard U.S. Army platform for firing surface to surface artillery rockets and missiles. The Armored Vehicle Mounted Rocket Launcher (M270) is a full-tracked, self-propelled launcher/loader designed to launch 12 tactical rockets and re-deploy before enemy determination of launch position (shoot and scoot). The launch platform is also used to launch the Army Tactical Missile System (Army TACMS) and is capable of launching all M270 Family of Munitions (MFOM) tactical rocket/missile variants. The launcher consists of six rockets, each of which are mounted and controlled in both azimuth and elevation. It has an automated control system for aiming that automatically corrects for launcher cant and ambient temperature, a directional reference system to obtain azimuth elevation and cant angles, and a FCS which is operated from a man-rated vehicle cab. The launcher platform structure provides a "self-loading" capability.

On the chance that any of the Bush people are reading this, I'd like to inform the President that this law abiding, tax paying native American citizen supports you 100% if and when you decide to shut N.Korea up for good. By whatever means you consider appropriate.

Which I suppose is good, since they are eating tree bark and occasionally each other to sustain their bodies.

If Tokyo wasn't east of N. Korea, I would suggest 25 minutes out of Minot as the solution.

The Koreans are like the Russians in one respect -- damn tough. That is not to say their army cannot be like the Russian army in other respects -- disorganized, primitively equipped, ineptly led and without a viable logistics system.

Still, nobody in their right mind wants to get into a war with Russia where the outcome depends on being tougher than the Russians. Our still Clintonized military is focused on Iraq and has few wonder weapons left over to point at North Korea. North Korea has spent the last 49 years digging their troops and tanks into rock mountains, not spreading them out on a flat vegetation free desert like Saddam. North Korea -- if their people fight -- will be a far tougher nut to crack than Iraq.

So let's (a) not fight them until we can give them our undivided attention, and (b) not fight them at all unless they give us no choice. The U.S. has outlasted brutal regimes far larger and more powerful than North Korea's, and we can do it again, and contain them until they collapse

In other words, we still won't let them overrun the South.

To hell with containment. Vaporization makes the best sense, with a heavy dose of VX for the double tap.
