A man killed his daughter at dawn Tuesday and then surrendered to the police. He claimed that his crime was an attempt to win back his honor after suspecting his daughter of behaving inappropriately.
Police reports said that the man, identified only as M.F., killed his daughter while she was asleep at his home in Roueis, a southern Beirut suburb.
The man admitted to having committed the premeditated crime, saying his daughter had brought him dishonor because of her bad conduct, the reports added.
He also said that he killed his unmarried daughter after having learned that she was pregnant and was suffering from pains in her abdomen, adding that her conduct had become the talk of the neighborhood.
Accordingly, it was necessary to win back the honor lost to him and his family, the man said.
Sources said that Mount Lebanon chief public prosecutor, Walid Qadi, had ordered the arrest of the killer and entrusted a coroner with examining the body of the victim.
The coroner, after conducting an autopsy, reported that the victim had not been pregnant, but had lost her virginity.
The prosecutor also ordered the arrest of another man who had been sexually involved with the victim but said the relationship did not date back more than two months. There were conflicting reports about whether the father had cut her into pieces.
However, sources close to the public prosecution in Mount Lebanon denied reports that the father had cut his daughter up. They said that the man had drunk his morning coffee and attacked his daughter while she was asleep.
Hehehe, I'm a girl :)
Interesting point about the self image. There's been a lot of analyzing of the Radical Islamic culture the last couple of years, and mass personality disorder keeps popping up. I don't feel that I could add anything to that particular assessment, however to turn your own flesh and blood out of the house, or more horrible, to kill your own child just isn't natural. It's obvious that they don't think much of their female children, so how would they feel if their son had impregnated a girl?
