In an otherwise well-written article, this parallel is false:

There are still white racists in the South and outside it who will vote for Republicans, as there are black anti-Semites who will vote for the Democrats, but these are fringe elements in what is becoming a post-ethnic country, in which Colin Powell and Joe Lieberman are both seen as possible presidents. The Republicans and the South have come a long way since the mid-1960s. Only the left is still living in the past.

The prevalence of anti-Semitism among black Democratic voters is much higher than that of racism among white GOP voters.

If one dropped by planet earth only on occasion, the democrat party would appear to be built on the following issues:

1) establish a special treatment regimen to energize segments of the population who are unaware of any more status than being fellow Americans ... a women's movement, a racial equality movement, a homosexuals movement (no rearend puns, please), etc. ;

2) change the founding principles of this Constitutional Republic via rulings from courts, especially the Supreme Court;

3) eningeer the economic power of the central governmental authority to allow that central government to establish special hand-out regimens which will grow the class of citizens dependent upon a government funding of one type or another, from schools, to households, to research programs;

4) issue rights to special interest groups and disenfranchise a lesser voting, or non-voting block in the process;

Mix liberally with race baiting, class warfare, and unspeakable shame that enslaves the human soul to agree with that which is opposite of God's blessings. ... Proof? Rabid efforts at 'gun control' or outright banning of private gun ownership without government registration; abortion on demand for any reason; taxation on top of taxation; appeasing and affriming deviant behavior; purposely making taxpayer funded schools impotent, where teaching is governed by what is politically correct think rather than the truth and the basic requirements for competitive functioning in society; government created bureaucratic departments that dole out tax revenues in the form of 'entitlements' for failing institutions and individuals; appeasement of international enemies and postponement of response to growing dangers abroad, to the point of death and endangerment for citizens of this nation, planned for future exploitation of the fear factor in a political season; judicial fiat that removes states' rights, bit by bit.

Note too: I keep reading that blacks are Democratic as against Republican, "9-1." The exact proportion is at least 10-1. This is all based on the 2000 election, when 91 percent of blacks voted for Gore.

For weeks, the Baghdad Democrats were all over the airwaves. No chagrined fellow Democrats stood up to say "this isn't our party," as Bush and some others did about Lott.

And lots of other examples could be cited, too, where the Rats take no stand against such behavior; give them some rope, and they will all hang themselves. Thanks for the ping, Pokey.

More telling still is the issue of war and peace, the Democrats' long-standing bane. On August 5, 2001, the New York Times ran a story about Democratic unease over grandstanding by Hillary Clinton, Mario Cuomo, and other prominent liberals to stop Navy bombing exercises in Puerto Rico. "The liberals clearly did not expect that they would meet with such resistance, if not hostility. . . . Moderate and conservative Democrats nationwide are beginning to complain that the party, under pressure from its vocal liberal wing, has gone too far in trying to stop the training operations. Their biggest concern, they say, is that the party has left itself vulnerable to charges that it is antimilitary."

And so have the Republicans, with their astonishing political cowardice with the 'triangulating' cave-ins on our absolutely vital live-fire training base in Vieques, Puerto Rico. And the unilateral U.S. nuclear disarmament of the Moscow Treaty. Any real defense president would have started filling in the funding holes right away instead of caving to anti-defense Paul O'Neill. Or listening to the Clinton-holdover-guy in the DOD's strategic targetting section who spouts the line that we only need 400 nukes--when a real defense President should have had this malefactor put on military trial and shot forthwith...as the Wormetongue he is.

Any body with a brain could see the global storm coming...and the critical need to increase defense capablities, armaments, ammunitions, increasing force-levels, and training and re-equipping of forces, rather than waste time and money on 'transformation.' If it ain't broke don't fix it. We should not be emulating the Democrats to pander for votes.

With Europe and South American Marxists, combining with the Muslim World, and our own internal Marxists coalescing in a grand alliance against our national sovereignty and liberty...I am wondering if the Administration really understands that we are in quicksand, and that we really need to do more than juice up the economy and pretend everything is jolly well normal. Just like China and Russia are NOT our friends.
