A friend of mine came here legally from Ukraine (He's now a citizen). He's been here about 5 years now, and has just recently brought over his fiance. She has a green card and is here legally as well, but she goes to university on the US Gov't. This type of payout is horse***t. She in effect is being paid to come here and go to school.

That's quite commonplace I understand. Also marrying an American so that they can come here or stay here legally. I wonder how many of those "marriages" fail?

Changes must be made, we can't just scrape the immigration policies and start over, but we do need to start some place and Luis and come up with some good ideas. It is going to take a lot of time and effort to come up with workable solutions that benefit both sides. It isn't going to be easy and it isn't going to happen overnight, but it has to start somewhere and with someone. So Luis, have you starting talking to anyone in Washington?

Your friend is paying for her.

BTW, are you sure that he's been here 5 years AND that he is a citizen?
