A plethora of anti-Israel propaganda is considered fine for ALA publications and for distribution at American Library Association conventions. Pro-Israel material, on the other hand, is apparently verboten.
My hat is off to N. Leonard Tolkan for standing up to the
A
merican L
eftist A
ssociation.
There is a fundamental contradiction between the ALA's so-called "neutral" stance toward what material they put on their shelves and their aggressively partisan stances. Common sense has been thrown out with the piles of discarded books.
How can they be "against censorship" at the same time that they are beating down any on who disagrees with them? I guess the ALA can manage "riding two horses at one time" because they are dishonest or partisan (or rotten?) at their core.
I worked as a reference librarian while attending library school about 20 years ago. Even back then, I wondered if I could be a librarian and go along with all the guidelines of the ALA, without going against my conscience.
They were in the lead in promoting Political Correctness then, and it sounds like they are getting even worse.

Melvil Dewey (that's how he spelled it), the founder of the American Library Association and the "father" of modern librarianship (died 1931), had a lively antipathy toward Jews. When it was discovered that he had set up an "exclusive" resort, whose profits were being used to subsidize the expenses of publishing revisions of his Dewey Decimal System, which refused admission to Jews, rather than change the admission policy, Dewey resigned his position as State Librarian of NY and thereafter ceased to be active in librarian circles.

What they heck does all this have to do with Librarians and Libraries, anyway? Just another leftist front group. They should lose their government funding.
