OK, folks......I am NOT dressing up for McDonalds! I'm a jeans and sweatshirt kinda girl, and I have my limits! :o)

LOL! I might be "sort of dressed up" out of necessity. Might have to show up for part of an all day meeting before I go. Long story which I'll share Tuesday...It's one I really feel I should be at...(community response to disasters) Mr. D. convinced me to meet with you guys "GUILT FREE" instead! That's just one reason we've lasted 27 years!

OK, if you have to be dressed up, I'll compromise by wearing a sweater and khakis. Is that OK? :o)

btw, Mr. Ohio and I are working on 27 years too! He's a 'guilt free' kind of husband, just like Mr. D. seems to be!

This is going to be FUN!

I would have to suspect the droughts of the past couple of years have resulted in fewer berries and grass seeds here in the South, forcing them to go so far afield.

I just related this to Mr. D. We have tons of bird feeders but I can't recall robins eating from them. Is there something we can be doing to feed them (i.e. string cranberrys etc) I LOVE to watch birds...but know little about their habits/needs! Any advice would be appreciated!

Well, let's see......I've got several OHIO STATE sweatshirts, several CLEVELAND INDIANS sweatshirts, several CLEVELAND BROWNS sweatshirts, assorted vacation spot sweatshirts, and one from the RNC......... I could wear that one!

Or I could wear my 43 T-shirt from Kennebunkport, Maine, in honor of our wonderful President, but I just heard that the HIGH temp is going to be in the teens, so I think I'll wear a sweater instead. :o)

Yes it is! What could be fun is you all come (sort of) dressed up and I'm in tattered bluejeans and a sweatshirt LOL! I'm not beyond practical jokes either! (okay...just kidding!)

Hi Dutchess, sorry to take so long to get back to the thread, but I was cooking my version of Imam Bayildi and washing dishes. Next I'm out to clean up horse poop from the pasture - oh yahoo! ;) I tried hot-linking the picture but couldn't get it to work and now the site isn't responding. I'll try again later. Until then, cheers!

Fiddle-dee-dee, humble ~ ~ ~

'Tis apparent some jokester thought:

Ding, dong, Dell,
Let's ring humble's bell!
Someone snip his precious tag,
and listen to him yell!

Ya tempted him, ya did with your incessant 'Don't Touch This Tag'!!
( Brung it on yerself, Dude..:))

We visited Alaska (Sitka, Juneau & Glacier Bay) in 1992. It was such a spiritual experience. Seeing that glorious land....glaciers, mountains, whales, bears, rushing streams, fields of huge wildflowers....I was in awe of God's Creation.

How fortunate you were to live there for some time!

Hi, Julie.
Thought I had been banished and sent back there, it's been so quiet here this evening!

In truth, you saw the more beautiful coast, not interior Fairbanks.
We had to travel south to go to Mt. McKinley.

Fairbanks is situated in a 'bowl' and does not have the kind of vegetation and flowers the milder coast has - nor the many mountains and glaciers. The climate is much harsher, as well.

The pluses were the displays of the Aurora Borealis that are so dramatic, and I loved the summers when the sun literally did not set from mid-May to mid-August! Just a bit of twilight at midnight.

The first part of our week of camping, we went up the Steese Highway to above the Arctic Circle! Had snow flurries on the 12th of August when we camped by a stream.
