One of the most misunderstood aspects of Roe v Wade, the one which most most people believe is true, is that the Justices determined that life does not begin at conception, therefore, abortion could be declared legal.
In fact, the Justices said to the effect that b/c there was no consensus on when life begins (or so they thought at the time), they could not or would not make that decision.
Thus, the eradication of laws protecting the unborn was predicated on the wanton unwillingness of the Justices to consider when life actually begins.
Norma McCorvey (Roe) and Sandra Cano (Doe) are trying to take their cases back to the Court to have them overturned. They can do this through Rule 60 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure which states, "Upon such terms as are just, a motion can be made by a party and the judgment will be set aside. " The plaintiffs say their cases were based on lies. Both women are working with the Texas Justice Foundation to request a rehearing of their cases. May God give them courage and perseverance.
