The fix was in from the start. Notice how they use the term 'Officer Hall felt...' as if that somehow justifies his actions. What if Officer Hall felt that the Smoaks were aliens from space and were going to destroy the planet and he wasted them all right there. Would it then be justified, since he felt that there was danger? No it wouldn't. THIS is the reason that the us vs. them mentality is becoming so prevelant among both cops, and the public at large. Cops REFUSE to police their own. Oh, and btw, this was the THIRD dog that Officer Hall had dispatched as a cop. Somehow I don't think that it's the third of his life though. Cops like Hall suffer from feelings of inadequacy, or suffer from other 'frustrations' in their personal life. That's why they get their jollies by killing things. This won't be the last controversy Officer Hall is involved in. He'll end up causing more embarassment to his dept.

Yes, if Officer Hall felt that the entire family was placing him in danger, he could have shot them all. The result would have been the same; we are terribly shocked and saddened, but the officer felt he was in jeopardy so there can be no disciplinary action.
