With every passing day, life for Venezuelans becomes more dangerous. Since his election four years ago, President Hugo Chavez has presided over the most dramatic decline in the nation's fortunes: Analysts predict that in the first quarter of 2003 the economy will contract by 40 percent; more than 1 million jobs have been lost; approximately 900,000 people have gone into voluntary exile (most of them middle-class professionals); unemployment is at a staggering 17 percent; Almost 70 percent of the country's industries have gone bankrupt; 70 percent of Venezuelans live in a state of poverty (up from 60 percent when Mr. Chavez began his rule); and the income of more than 15 percent of Venezuelans has dropped below the poverty line.

i have to say i was pleasantly surprised to see Geraldo reporting live from Caracas on Saturday PM on his Fox show and he opened by referring to Venezuela's strife as the most underreported story going on today.

Chavez plans to become a billionaire like Castro, Saddam, Khadafi, The Dear Leader, etc.

He plans to make Venezuela capitalistic with one owner.

The LIBERAL media loves to call Chavez, left-leaning, a firebrand when Chavez himself says, "I am a Maoist!"

That's Communism in a nutshell. Hey, it all belongs to the "People," right? And since Mr. Dictator is the "People" personified - well, I guess it all belongs to Mr. Dictator.

Thanks for posting, gratifying to finally see the truth beginning to percolate to the top.

For all those eager-beaver young investigative reporters that want to make their name in the news biz, the expose of the Chavez regime terrorist connections/support could be their ticket to fame.

And, it would be so easy, as they need only explore the revelations of the Chavez top military that have recently denounced him here.
